      Advice: Sewald has picked up saves in four straight appearances and in seven of his 10 outings in June. The closer has been virtually untouchable this month, allowing two hits, two walks and two hit batsmen while striking out six over 8.2 innings.       Gallen (6-4) allowed a hit and a walk while striking out seven over six shutout innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Saturday.

      Advice: Gallen returned from a hamstring injury that cost him nearly a month and took full advantage of a soft matchup. This was the fourth time this season he's gone six innings in a start without allowing a run. He's also posted five quality starts in his last six outings, the lone exception being the May 30 start that ended with the aforementioned hamstring injury before he could record an out. The right-hander is now at a 2.83 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 67:16 K:BB through 63.2 innings over 12 starts. Gallen threw 77 pitches (50 strikes) Saturday, so he should be good for a full workload his next time out, which is tentatively projected for a road outing at San Diego.       Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a home run and six RBI in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Yankees.

      Advice: Guerrero opened the scoring with a two-run home run off Nestor Cortes in the first inning. He added a three-run double in the eighth and an RBI single in the eighth to finish the day with a whopping six RBI. The first baseman is scorching, homering for the third straight contest and recording his sixth consecutive multi-hit effort.     • Paul Skenes strike out nine against Atlanta
      Paul Skenes struck out nine over six innings of one-run baseball but didn’t factor into the decision Saturday against Atlanta.

      Advice: Skenes gave up a leadoff homer to Jarred Kelenic in the first, and from that point out he was essentially lights out. The right-hander scattered six total hits in the contests with two walks allowed and 61-of-102 pitches going for strikes. To say that Skenes has lived up to the hype thus far is an understatement, and over his last four starts he’s given up a total of three runs with a 32/4 K/BB over 25 1/3 innings.       Justin Steele allowed three runs in six innings of work in a no-decision versus the Brewers on Saturday.

      Advice: Once again, Steele wasn’t able to pick up a win, and he remains without a W in the 2024 campaign. He allowed seven hits in this outing while not issuing a walk and striking out five. While the lack of wins is frustrating, it’s more an example of how flawed the stat is, as he’s pitched well in 2024 with a 3.20 ERA and 70/16 K/BB over 70 1/3 innings.       Paul Sewald tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Athletics on Saturday.

      Zac Gallen allowed no runs in six innings and got the win in the Diamondbacks’ 3-0 victory over the Athletics on Saturday.



      Advice: Gallen gave up one hit, walked one and struck out seven. Even though the Athletics offense is nothing to write home about, Gallen was excellent in his first major league start since May 30th. Gallen has finished in the top five of the Cy Young award voting each of the last two years and appeared to have similar form in this start. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Padres on the road next week.

      Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 3-for-5 with a home run and six RBI to lead Toronto to a 9-3 win over the Yankees on Saturday.

      Advice: Guerrero Jr. has been on an absolute tear. His first-inning two-run homer off Nestor Cortes was his sixth home run in nine games. With the bases loaded in the sixth, he cleared them all with a double to extend the Blue Jays’ lead. Not done there, he doubled once again in the eighth to drive in his sixth RBI of the game.
