    • Ramping up baseball work
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Tuesday that Robert (hip) is taking batting practice and running at 80 percent, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old is about halfway through the short end of his initial recovery timeline of 6-to-8 weeks, and he appears to be a bit ahead of schedule. Robert could be ready to rejoin the White Sox in mid-May, but the organization is likely to remain cautious as he ramps up his baseball activities over the next couple weeks. • Teoscar Hernández drives in two in victory
Teoscar Hernández finished 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI as the Dodgers topped the Diamondbacks 8-4 on Monday.

Advice: Hernández was the exit velocity champ tonight, hitting balls 110.8, 107.9 and 103.7 mph. His .263/.326/.466 line isn’t quite stellar, but with six homers, 22 RBI and three steals in 31 games, he’s definitely meeting expectations for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld Monday, 10:41 pm
    • Corbin Carroll settles for lone single in loss
Corbin Carroll contributed a single in four at-bats as the Diamondbacks’ No. 8 hitter on Monday.

Advice: Carroll had two hard-hit balls tonight, including a 408-foot flyout that Statcast said would have been a homer in 17 of 30 ballparks. Power has been the issue for the 23-year-old this season, so this was a pretty good night, even if the box score looks perfectly generic. Rotoworld Monday, 10:41 pm
    • Slump continues
Carroll batted seventh and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mariners.

Advice: Carroll, who was dropped in the order Wednesday following a day off amid a slump, has hit seventh or eighth over the last four contests. It hasn't helped awake the bat. Carroll is 0-for-13 in those four games and is 1-for-25 with 11 strikeouts over the last seven. He's sitting at .189/.295/.236 with just five RBI over 27 games. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:49 pm
    • Could return in mid-May
White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Friday that Robert (hip) could be back from the 10-day injured list in mid-May, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old was given a six-week recovery timeline after he landed on the shelf April 6 with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain, and it appears he may be slightly ahead of schedule. Veterans Tommy Pham and Rafael Ortega had their contracts selected by Chicago on Friday and should see most of the action in center field until Robert can return from the injured list. • Luis Robert Jr. (hip) expected to return mid-May
White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Friday that Luis Robert Jr. (hip) should be able to return in mid-May.

Advice: That would put him at the front end of that initial 6-8 week timeframe that was given when he was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hip flexor strain. The White Sox could most certainly benefit from the 26-year-old superstar’s return to the lineup, as their offense has really struggled to score runs consistently. Getz also noted that Tommy Pham and Rafael Ortega will carry the load in center field until Robert is able to return. Rotoworld Friday, 1:30 pm

    • Goes deep in victory
Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Thursday in a 2-1 win over Washington.

Advice: Hernandez's second-inning solo shot put the Dodgers on the board and amounted for half of the team's total output of runs in the low-scoring win. The long ball was the slugger's sixth of the campaign and his first over his past 11 contests. Hernandez has trailed off a bit of late after a strong start to his Dodgers tenure, but he still ranks second on the team and is tied for 11th in the majors with 20 RBI. • Corbin Carroll goes 0-for-3 from seventh spot
Corbin Carroll went 0-for-3 with a walk as the Diamondbacks’ No. 7 hitter on Wednesday.

Advice: Dropping Carroll to seventh against a right-hander seems like an overreaction to his slow start, but it’s not something that figures to last. It is rather concerning how rarely Carroll is hitting the ball hard this year, but his excellent approach has remained intact, and the batting average will surely start to climb. • Sent down to minors
The Cardinals optioned Walker to Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Walker has hit just .155/.239/.259 this season and was recently demoted to the eight spot in the Cardinals lineup. Rather than letting Walker continue to work through his struggles at the big-league level, the Cardinals have elected to have the 21-year-old do it in a lower-pressure situation at Memphis. Alec Burleson and Ivan Herrera could both see upticks in playing time while Walker is in the minors. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:11 am
