King (3-4) took the loss against the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven betters over 5.1 innings.

Advice: King fell behind when he yielded three runs in the second inning, and San Diego's offense never put up a fight against Austin Gomber and a trio of Rockies relievers. King had been on a roll coming into Wednesday, putting up 13 scoreless frames over his previous two starts, but he's been very inconsistent this season, giving up at least four runs in four of his 10 appearances. Altogether, he's registered a mediocre 4.31 ERA and 1.36 WHIP along with a 61:26 K:BB through 54.1 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:15 pm

    • Javier Assad cruises through six to beat Braves
Javier Assad continued his strong season with six scoreless innings in the Cubs’ 7-1 victory in Atlanta. He struck out seven, allowed four hits, and just one walk earning the win.

Advice: Unfazed by the Braves’ daunting lineup, Assad was in complete control in this one. Only one runner reached scoring position and he lowered his ERA to a sparkling 1.49, good for the fourth-lowest among all starting pitchers. He’s lined up for a rematch with the Braves on Monday. • Continues to shine as starter
Assad (4-0) tossed six scoreless innings to earn the win Wednesday against Atlanta. He allowed four hits and a walk, while striking out seven.

Advice: Assad has now allowed two earned runs or fewer in all nine of his starts this season, which has allowed him to compile a stellar 1.49 ERA across 48.1 innings. The young righty was effective as a long reliever last year and it was uncertain in spring training if he'd be able to grab a rotation spot, but at this point, it would seem unlikely that he's moved back to the bullpen given his strong play. Assad will look to keep rolling as a starter in his next scheduled outing, which is penciled in for Tuesday against this same Atlanta squad. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:24 pm

    • Michael King hit hard in loss to Rockies
Michael King was hit hard in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Rockies, surrendering six runs on eight hits across his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, King racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing just two free passes. The Rockies scored three times in the second inning — including a solo blast by Brenton Doyle — then tacked on two more in the third. King settled in nicely afterwards though and kept them at bay until the sixth, where he exited after allowing single that eventually came around to score. King got 14 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the afternoon while registering a CSW of 33 percent. With extreme inconsistency on the season, he now sports a 4.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 60/26 K/BB ratio over 54 innings through his first 10 appearances (nine starts). He’ll do battle against the Reds his next time out in Cincinnati on Tuesday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:52 pm

    • Dominates again Tuesday
Miller, who'd pitched just once in the previous 11 games entering Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Astros, threw 14 fastballs of at least 100.5 mph out of his 29 pitches during his two scoreless innings, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Miller's arm was clearly fresh, and manager Mark Kotsay deployed his closer for multiple innings in the tie game as a result. Miller rewarded him by recording five strikeouts -- including of the noteworthy trio of Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and Jeremy Pena -- over his 29 pitches. The elite velocity helped Miller to his 13th straight scoreless outing and extended his career-high scoreless streak to 17.1 innings. The improved - but still inconsistent - Athletics have afforded Miller just eight save chances among his 14 appearances, but he's converted each and now boasts a minuscule 0.98 ERA and 0.65 WHIP alongside a 38:5 K:BB across 18.1 innings. • Notches 13th save
Finnegan recorded his 13th save of the season in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox, giving up two hits and striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: The knocks were the first off the right-hander since April 12, snapping a stretch of 11 straight hitless appearances, but he was able to escape the jam and preserve a 6-3 win by fanning Nicky Lopez. Finnegan hasn't blown a save or been tagged with an earned run since the calendar flipped to April, posting a 0.00 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 16:7 K:BB over his last 15.2 innings. • Ryan Helsey records 13th save in win over Angels
Ryan Helsley recorded his 13th save with a scoreless ninth against the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Helsley pitched a whole lot during April, but it definitely hasn’t caused any problems yet; he’s posted his best velocity numbers of the year his last two times out, averaging 101.0 mph with his fastball on Sunday and 100.7 mph tonight. He’s gone 14 straight appearances without allowing an earned run and the one unearned run he’s given up during the stretch was an automatic runner in the 10th inning. • Earns save No. 13
Helsley allowed a hit and struck out two without walking a batter in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Angels.

Advice: Helsley has a win and six saves during his nine-inning scoreless streak, a span that's seen him allowed six hits and one walk while striking out 11. The right-hander is 13-for-14 in save chances this season with a 1.35 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 23:2 K:BB over 20 innings. Helsley seems to be benefiting from being the standalone closer as opposed to part of a committee. His career high in saves is 19 in 2022, a mark he should be able to shatter as long as he doesn't add to his lengthy injury history. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:25 pm

    • Kyle Finnegan nets 13th save on Tuesday
Kyle Finnegan tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday against the White Sox to collect his 13th save of the season.

Advice: Finnegan’s streak of 11 consecutive hitless innings came to a close when he gave up a one-out single to Andrew Benintendi. Yet, he managed to scatter a pair of hits in the frame, thanks to a couple ground outs and a strikeout of Nicky Lopez to end the contest, preserving a three-run lead in the opening contest of Tuesday’s doubleheader. He’s converted 13 of 14 save chances this season to go along with a 1.56 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 17/8 K/BB ratio across 17 1/3 innings (18 appearances). He’s been one of the best closers in baseball for fantasy purposes so far. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:29 pm
