    • Mason Miller locks down five-out save vs. Mariners
Mason Miller allowed a run over 1 2/3 innings while striking out one to earn the save against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Miller was asked to preserve the A’s two-run lead in the eighth inning with two runners on and one out. He induced a fly out and a groundout to keep the Mariners scoreless. Miller returned for the ninth and surrendered a solo homer to Julio Rodríguez before locking down his 12th save of the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:02 pm

    • Erick Fedde gives up three runs in no-decision
Erick Fedde allowed three runs with seven strikeouts across five innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Fedde gave up a run in the second inning on three hits and worked out of a bases loaded jam. He settled in for two scoreless frames before getting into more trouble in the fifth. Three base hits loaded the bases with one out. Cody Bellinger brought a run in on a groundout and a second run would come in on a balk before Fedde got out of the inning. He’d be done after five frames with seven strikeouts in line for the win, but the White Sox would unable to hold on to the lead. The 31-year-old right-hander will take a 3.27 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 73/22 K/BB ratio across 74 1/3 innings into a start against the Mariners in Seattle on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:11 pm

    • Luis Severino cruises to victory over Nationals
Luis Severino cruised to an easy victory over the Nationals on Wednesday afternoon, allowing just one run on seven hits over eight stellar frames.

Advice: The right-hander punched out four batters in the ballgame and didn’t allow a base on balls. All seven of the hits that he allowed in the contest were singles. The lone tally against him came on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Joey Gallo in the eighth inning. Severino generated nine swings and misses on 92 pitches in the contest, posting a CSW of 26 percent. Now 4-2 on the season, Severino will carry a 3.25 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 58/27 K/BB ratio (72 innings) into Thursday’s showdown against the Marlins. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:38 pm

    • Next start pushed back
Crawford's next scheduled start will be pushed back to early next week against the Phillies, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Crawford's next turn comes up Sunday versus the White Sox, but the Red Sox want to give him some extra rest given his recent struggles (he's allowed four or more earned runs in four of his last five starts). Boston is expected to go with a bullpen game Sunday. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:55 am

    • Red Sox may push back Kutter Crawford’s start
The Red Sox are looking at going with a bullpen game on Sunday and pushing Kutter Crawford’s next start back to Tuesday.

Advice: Bad news for those hoping Crawford would bounce back against the White Sox. He’ll instead face the Phillies if the Red Sox follow through on this, though at least he’d be doing so on six days’ rest instead of four. The Red Sox are off Monday, which makes the bullpen game a little more feasible. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:45 am

    • Kutter Crawford has another rough start in loss
Kutter Crawford allowed six runs (four earned) on five hits in six innings in a loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

Advice: Crawford has now allowed 15 earned runs in 16 1/3 innings in his last three starts. However, those starts were also against the Brewers, Braves, and Orioles. He was never going to carry over the 1.75 ERA he had over his first eight starts, but he’s also not pitching as poorly of late as those earned runs totals would indicate. He induced 12 whiffs on 51 swings for a 24 percent whiff rate on the day and lines up for a much better start against the White Sox this weekend. He should still be rostered and started in almost all formats. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:22 pm

    • Hit hard by Atlanta
Crawford (2-5) took the loss Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing six runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks across six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The right-hander surrendered three extra-base hits Tuesday, which resulted in five of the six runs scored by Atlanta while Crawford was on the mound. Ozzie Albies and Jarred Kelenic came around to score after hitting doubles before Albies went yard on a three-run blast in the sixth inning. Tuesday's start was the latest in a rough patch for the 28-year-old Crawford, who's allowed four or more earned runs in four of his last five showings. During that span, Crawford is 0-4 with a 6.43 ERA across 28.0 innings. However, a road start against the White Sox on Sunday could be exactly what he needs to get back on track. • Moved to 60-day IL
The Athletics transferred Blackburn (foot) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.

Advice: Blackburn landed on the injured list May 13 following a stress reaction in his right foot, and his move to the 60-day IL makes it more than likely he remains sidelined through the All-Star break. The 30-year-old righty has been in a walking boot for the past several weeks but is slated to be re-evaluated by the Athletics during their current homestand. Once the team is able to take a closer look at him, plans for a throwing program may begin to form. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:24 pm

    • A’s transfer Paul Blackburn to 60-day IL
Athletics transferred RHP Paul Blackburn to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The procedural move opens up a spot on Oakland’s 40-man roster. Blackburn hit the injured list back in mid-May with a stress reaction in his right foot and is going to be out until sometime in mid-July. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:13 pm
