      Helsley walked one and struck out none over a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Monday's 6-3 win over the Orioles.

      Advice: Helsley hadn't pitched since last Tuesday, but he didn't show much rust. The closer is on a 10-inning scoreless streak, and he's earned seven saves and a win in that span. For the season, he's 14-for-15 in save chances with a 2-2 record, a 1.29 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 23:3 K:BB over 21 innings. Helsley's strong pitching has helped him go unquestioned as the Cardinals' closer this year, though the team's 21-26 record leaves some doubt as to if he can keep picking up saves at such a strong pace.       Ryan Helsley picked up his 14th save of the season against the Orioles on Monday.

      Advice: Helsley pitched another scoreless ninth inning, which was his 15th consecutive appearance without allowing an earned run. He walked Austin Hays with two outs before getting Cedric Mullens to fly out to end the game. Helsley last allowed an earned run on April 8th.       Crawford allowed a run on six hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on Saturday.

      Advice: Nolan Gorman's second-inning solo shot was the only run on Crawford's line, but he was an out short of a quality start. It was still a good showing from the 28-year-old, who allowed a season-high four earned runs in his previous start versus the Rays. Crawford has given up one run or fewer in six of his 10 starts this season, pitching to a 2.17 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 57:18 K:BB over 58 innings this season.     • Blows save, takes loss Saturday
      Finnegan (1-3) took the loss and blew a save against the Phillies on Saturday, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk over 1.2 innings.

      Advice: Finnegan was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning and got two outs before serving up a game-tying solo homer to Kody Clemens. The contest went into an extra frame, and after Washington failed to score in the top of the 10th, Finnegan was tagged with the loss when Bryce Harper plated the automatic runner on a sacrifice fly. The blown save was just the second for Finnegan this year, with the other coming all the way back on March 31.       Kutter Crawford only allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Saturday.

      Advice: Crawford pitched well, but so did his pitching counterpart Miles Mikolas, so there’s no W for the 28-year-old. Crawford bounced back nicely from a shaky start against the Ray on Monday, and in the process he lowers his ERA to a strong 2.17.     • Finnegan blows save against the Phillies
      Kyle Finnegan blew his second save of the season against the Phillies on Saturday.



      Advice: Finnegan had two outs in the bottom of the ninth when he allowed a game-tying solo home run to Kody Clemens. Finnegan took the loss as he allowed another run on a game-winning sacrifice fly by Bryce Harper in the 10th inning. He entered play Saturday leading the league with 13 saves, but he was probably due to give up some runs as his ERA is 1.89 but his xFIP is significantly higher at 3.72.

      Devin Williams (back) played catch on Saturday without any issues.

      Advice: It’s the first time that the 29-year-old right-hander has thrown since being shut down in spring training due to a pair of stress fractures in his back. He isn’t expected to rejoin the Brewers’ bullpen until mid-July — that’s if everything goes smoothly in his throwing progression — but the fact that he has a ball in his hand once again is obviously an encouraging sign.       Williams (back) played catch before Saturday's game against the Astros, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

      Advice: Saturday marks the first time Williams has done any sort of throwing since being shut down during spring training due to multiple stress fractures in his back. The 29-year-old closer still has a long way to go before the Brewers can think about sending him out on a minor-league rehab assignment, but he is certainly trending in the right direction.       Cole Ragans blanked the A’s for seven innings, allowing just two hits, in the Royals’ 6-2 win Friday.
