• Slight setback in recovery
Andujar has been experiencing some lateral soreness in his surgically repaired right knee after recently beginning to take batting practice, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Manager Mark Kotsay labeled the development a "slight setback" that will slow Andujar's progress briefly. The veteran will eventually need a fairly lengthy rehab assignment, so this latest interruption in his recovery could push his potential return into the latter portion of May. • Taking seat Tuesday
Nevin is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Nevin started the previous 14 games and posted an .858 OPS during that stretch, though he's now in the midst of an 0-for-14 slump. Brett Harris is starting at third base Tuesday for the fifth straight game, which has resulted in Nevin seeing more action in right field. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

  • Drives in run in return
Ruiz (wrist) went 0-for-2 with an RBI sacrifice fly in a loss to the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Ruiz returned after a one-game absence due to a wrist injury he suffered Saturday and was able to contribute an RBI for the third consecutive contest. The 25-year-old outfielder has demonstrated a slight uptick in pop during the first month-plus of the season and appears to have moved past the wrist issue, given he drew the start in left field Monday. • Swipes bag Monday
Tatis went 1-for-5 with a run and a stolen base in Monday's 6-3 win against the Cubs.

Advice: Tatis helped generate San Diego's first run, reaching on a leadoff single in the sixth inning, advancing to second on another single, then taking part in a double steal with Jake Cronenworth before both players scored on a Jurickson Profar hit. Tatis has been somewhat quiet at the plate this season, but he's still been moderately productive with a .248/.327/.442 slash line, seven homers, 20 RBI, 28 runs and five stolen bases through 168 plate appearances. He's gone 7-for-23 with a homer, a steal, six runs and three RBI through the first five games of May. Rotowire.com Today, 9:47 am
  • Athletics designate Lazaro Amenteros for assignment
Athletics designated OF Lazaro Amenteros for assignment.

Advice: The 24-year-old will hit waivers after a rough start at the minor league level in Las Vegas. Amenteros slashed just .133/.278/.250 with 37 strikeouts in his 72 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 9:36 am

  • Jettisoned from 40-man roster
Armenteros was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Tuesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Armenteros was a lauded signee out of Cuba back in 2016 but has struggled to hit with any consistency since entering the A's organization. In his first taste of Triple-A Las Vegas this season, the 24-year-old has slashed only .133/.278/.250 with a 51.4 percent strikeout rate. Armenteros' removal from the 40-man roster clears space for Tyler Ferguson. Rotowire.com Today, 9:19 am

  • Slugs second homer
Pham went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday against the Rays.

Advice: Pham was the only source of offense for Chicago when he took Tyler Alexander deep for his second home run of the season. Since joining the White Sox on April 26, Pham has regularly hit second in the order and has at least one knock in seven of his 10 games. Rotowire.com Today, 7:44 am
  • Pops fifth homer
Gordon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder took Walker Buehler deep in the top of the second inning to briefly tie the game at 3-3, but Los Angeles took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame. Gordon has gone yard in back-to-back games and is up to five homers on the year in only 32 games -- a surprisingly power display for a player whose career high is nine home runs in 138 games, set in 2022. The rest of Gordon's numbers are far less impressive, and he's slashing .212/.244/.424 with nine runs, 16 RBI and only one steal in two attempts. Rotowire.com Today, 6:29 am

  • Starts in left field
Duran started in left field and went 0-for-2 in Monday's 4-2 win over Oakland.

Advice: Duran made his first outfield start of 2024, coming against lefty Alex Wood. He was eventually pinch hit for by Evan Carter when a right-handed reliever entered the game. Duran, who started 32 games in the outfield last season, will be part of the crew that replaces the injured Wyatt Langford (hamstring), who is expected to miss three-to-four weeks. Duran is the lone righty-hitting outfielder in that replacement mix, joining lefties Carter and Travis Jankowski. Of the trio, Carter is expected to get the bulk of the starts. Duran wielded a capable backup bat in 2023, posting 14 home runs and a .767 OPS, but he's off to less enticing start this year (.226/.293/.264). Rotowire.com Today, 3:44 am
