• Paul Skenes strike out nine against Atlanta
Paul Skenes struck out nine over six innings of one-run baseball but didn’t factor into the decision Saturday against Atlanta.

Advice: Skenes gave up a leadoff homer to Jarred Kelenic in the first, and from that point out he was essentially lights out. The right-hander scattered six total hits in the contests with two walks allowed and 61-of-102 pitches going for strikes. To say that Skenes has lived up to the hype thus far is an understatement, and over his last four starts he’s given up a total of three runs with a 32/4 K/BB over 25 1/3 innings. There’s no reason to take him out of your lineup for Friday’s scheduled start against the Mets. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:18 pm
  • Nick Gordon homers in win over Phillies
Nick Gordon went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in the Marlins 3-2 win over the Phillies on Saturday.

Advice: Gordon took Aaron Nola deep for a solo homer in the second inning to put the Marlins on the board. He got on base with a single in the ninth for his second hit of the day. The 28-year-old outfielder is slashing .232/.255/.401 with eight homers, 29 RBI, and five steals across 216 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:50 pm

  • Manny Machado homers twice in rout of Red Sox
Manny Machado homered twice and drove in five runs in an 11-1 blowout victory over the Red Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Machado blasted both homers off Tanner Houck, a three-run shot in the fifth and a two-run blast in the second. It’s the first multi-homer game for the 31-year-old in 2024, but five of his 10 homers have come thus far in the month of June. Machado’s also picked up multiple hits in his last three games and six times since June 19, and appears to be righting the ship after a disappointing first two-plus months of the campaign. • Michael King bounces back with six strong in win
Michael King held the Red Sox to one run over six innings with six strikeouts while picking up a win Saturday.

Advice: King didn’t have to be at his best with Tanner Houck faltering, but he was pretty close to it, anyway. The right-hander gave up a solo homer to Jarren Duran, and that was it in terms of scoring blemishes. King has been fairly up-and-down in his first year with the Padres, but there have been enough quality starts like this one to keep the optimism going. He’s scheduled to face the Diamondbacks next weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:50 pm
  • Tanner Houck struggles in loss to Padres
Tanner Houck gave up eight runs — seven earned — over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Padres on Saturday.

Advice: Houck has been fantastic for the overwhelming majority of 2024. There wasn’t anything fantastic about this outing, other than he gave reason for San Diego hitters to have some fun. The right-hander gave up nine hits with one walk, and while he was able to at least add four punchouts, they don’t compensate for giving up three homers. Houck hadn’t allowed more than three runs since April 12, so it’s fair to write this one off as a “pobody’s nerfect.” He’s scheduled to face the Yankees on Friday, and he’ll try and lower an ERA that jumped from 2.18 to 2.67 after this clunker. • Garrett Stubbs homers in loss to Marlins
Garrett Stubbs went 1-for-2 with a solo homer against the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Stubbs put the Phillies on the board with a solo homer off Roddery Muñoz to lead off the third inning, his first homer of the season. It was one of two runs the Phillies would score in the loss to Miami. The 29-year-old backstop has taken over as the primary catcher with J.T. Realmuto on the injured list. He’s slashing .216/.281/.261 across 96 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:50 pm
  • Lowe homers in return to lineup Saturday
Brandon Lowe went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk against the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Lowe’s home run was his sixth of the season. It was certainly good to see him do something productive in his first game back in the Rays’ lineup since breaking his pinkie toe. With Lowe, you have to worry about when the next injury might come. He’s a decent power option in the middle infield as long as he’s playing. Lowe has a .218 average .756 OPS with 23 RBI on the season.

  • Tanner Scott locks down 12th save vs. Phillies
Tanner Scott tossed a clean ninth inning with two strikeouts to earn the save against the Phillies on Saturday.

Advice: Scott was summoned in the ninth inning to close out the game with a one-run lead. He shut the door quickly on the Phillies, striking out two batters in a perfect frame for his 12th save of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:49 pm
  • Abrams blasts 13th home run vs. Rays Saturday
CJ Abrams went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run, a walk and two RBI against the Rays on Saturday.

Advice: Abrams’ home run was his 13th of the season. He started the game with a home run off Aaron Civale in the first inning. Abrams is hitting .282 with an .852 OPS and 42 RBI on the season.
