• Strikes out eight in loss
Abbott (1-4) took the loss to the Orioles on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits over five innings. He struck out eight without issuing a walk.

Advice: He retired eight straight batters at one point while showing great depth with his breaking pitches, but Jorge Mateo and Adley Rutschman touched him up for solo shots in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, and that was enough to send Abbott to his fourth loss in five decisions. The lefty has now allowed multiple homers in three of his last four outings, but he still has a highly respectable 3.32 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 38 innings this season. If Abbott can get the homer issue under control, he could take off, though that will be easier said than done as the weather heats up. Rotowire.com 2 minutes ago

  • Ejected from Saturday's win
Judge went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI before being ejected for arguing balls and strikes in the seventh inning of Saturday's 5-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Home plate umpire Ryan Blakney was generous with strike calls on pitches off the plate all day, and Judge's muttering as he walked back to the dugout after getting rung up for a second time got him tossed. Per Joe Trezza of MLB.com, it was the first ejection of Judge's career -- at any level of baseball. He still made an impact in the win, and while the 32-year-old slugger has had a slow start to the season, he's produced three multi-hit performances, two homers and six RBI in his last eight games. • Rocked for eight runs Saturday
Rogers (0-5) took a loss Saturday in Oakland, allowing eight runs on eight hits and three walks over just 2.1 innings.

Advice: Rogers gave up a couple runs in the second inning and then the wheels really came off in the third, as he was tagged for six runs during what turned out to be a 10-run inning for the Athletics. It's a disastrous performance in what should have been a favorable matchup for the left-hander. Rogers will carry a 6.15 ERA into his next start, which is expected to be against the Phillies at home. • Earns first save of 2024
Cano allowed one walk but retired the final two batters of Saturday's game against the Reds to earn his first save of the season.

Advice: Craig Kimbrel was pulled from the game after allowing two hits and a walk in the bottom of the ninth. Cano entered and walked the first batter he faced to load the bases, but the 30-year-old ultimately worked his way out of it with a strikeout and a flyout. Kimbrel earned the save in Friday's game, but Kimbrel had back-to-back blown saves to end April and has been nursing a back issue recently. If Kimbrel needs some time to get right, Cano would presumably step into the closer's role after he recorded eight saves and 31 holds a season ago. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago
  • Nails down 11th save
Holmes gave up a hit and struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings Saturday to record his 11th save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: The right-hander is tied with the Cardinals' Ryan Helsley for the league lead in saves. Holmes kept his ERA a pristine 0.00 with Saturday's performance, although he did give up three unearned runs in his one blown save, and through 15 innings he's delivered a 0.92 WHIP and 18:1 K:BB. • Brent Rooker powers A’s in 20-run explosion
Brent Rooker went 3-for-4 with two homers and five RBI in a 20-4 win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: With a runner on in the third inning, Rooker took Trevor Rogers deep for a two-run homer. The A’s would bat around the order, adding five more runs before Rooker blasted a three-run shot for his second of the inning in Oakland’s offensive explosion. He added a walk and a base hit, ending his day slashing .240/.329/.600 with eight homers and 20 RBI across 85 plate appearances. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Fans seven in third win
Schmidt (3-1) picked up the win Saturday over the Tigers, giving up three runs on four hits over five innings. He struck out seven without walking a batter.

Advice: The right-hander tied his season high in strikeouts while generating 33 called or swinging strikes among his 91 pitches. Schmidt has been remarkably consistent to begin the season, allowing between one and three runs in every start and completing five innings in six of seven outings, although he has yet to last a full six frames. He'll take a 3.50 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 41:13 K:BB through 36 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come next weekend in Tampa Bay. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago

  • Shea Langeliers goes deep in A’s win over Marlins
Shea Langeliers went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI against the Marlins in Saturday.

Advice: Langeliers tripled in the second inning and scored the first run of the game on a base hit by Darell Hernaiz. He added a single to lead off the seventh and came around to score on a double by JJ Bleday. With the game already out of hand, he made it 20 runs for Oakland with a three-run homer in the eighth inning. The 26-year-old slugger is batting .186/.246/.441 with seven homers and 16 RBI across 114 plate appearances. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

  • JJ Bleday slugs three-run homer in A’s win
JJ Bleday went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI against the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Bleday drew a walk in the second inning, then broke the game open with a three-run homer off Trevor Rogers in the third. He later led off the sixth with a base hit and scored on a home run by Brett Harris. Bleday plated a fourth run with a double in the seventh for good measure. The 26-year-old outfielder is slashing .255/.328/.455 with four homers and 13 RBI across 122 plate appearances. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago
