• Likely starter for Wednesday
Mena has joined the Diamondbacks' taxi squad and appears in line to make his major-league debut Wednesday against the Dodgers, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Manager Torey Lovullo acknowledged Mena's presence in the clubhouse Tuesday and said that "if that does come up [Wednesday], [Mena] deserves the opportunity," per PHNX Diamondbacks. Mena is a 21-year-old right-hander who was traded to Arizona over the winter. He has spent the entire 2024 season to date with Triple-A Reno, posting a 4.90 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 89:38 K:BB over 82.2 innings spanning 16 starts. A road matchup against the Dodgers represents a tough landing spot, and most will want to wait and see how the youngster fares before considering him for a fantasy roster. • Perfect in non-save outing
Finnegan struck out one over a perfect inning in Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Mets.

Advice: Finnegan entered in the top of the ninth in a 2-2 game and fired a perfect frame. The 32-year-old has delivered four consecutive scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk over that stretch. Finnegan owns the third-most saves in baseball with 22. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:48 pm
  • Goes yard in loss
Walker went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Walker has an extra-base hit in four of his last six games, though this was his first homer since June 20. The first baseman is up to 18 long balls on the year, with six of them coming over his last 18 games. He's added a .259/.331/.480 slash line with 55 RBI, 50 runs scored and two stolen bases over 85 contests. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:30 pm
  • Christian Walker goes deep in loss to Dodgers
Christian Walker went 2-for-5 and slugged a two-run homer on Tuesday night as the Diamondbacks fell to the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Advice: The 33-year-old slugger evened the score at 2-2 when he clobbered a 402-foot (107.1 mph EV) two-run shot off of Bobby Miller in the fourth inning. He also added a two-out single off of Alex Vesia in the seventh inning. Walker is enjoying another strong season in the middle of the Diamondbacks’ lineup, slashing .259/.331/.480 with 18 homers, 55 RBI and two stolen bases (in four attempts). Rotoworld Tuesday, 11:01 pm
  • Sitting again Tuesday
Vierling (foot) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game at Minnesota, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: The 27-year-old was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to left foot soreness and will sit again Tuesday following Monday's team off day. Vierling was hit by a pitch during Saturday's contest and had preliminary X-rays come back clean. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:58 pm

  • Matt Vierling remains out Tuesday with foot issue
Matt Vierling (foot) remains absent from the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Twins.

Advice: Vierling will get another day off to rest and recover after being scratched from Sunday’s series finale against the Angels due to left foot soreness. It’ll be Riley Greene patrolling center field in his absence with Akil Baddoo stepping into the lineup to cover left field. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:51 pm

  • Idle Tuesday
Garcia is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: With the Nationals facing a left-handed pitcher for a second straight game, Garcia will yield to Ildemaro Vargas at second base once again. Garcia owns a .677 OPS with seven home runs and 11 stolen bases this season. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:57 pm
  • Collects first hit in debut
Wood went 1-for-4 with a walk in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Mets.

Advice: The 21-year-old recorded a hit in his first major-league plate appearance, knocking a single to left off David Peterson. Wood later worked a five-pitch walk in the 10th inning. After slashing .353/.463/.595 in 231 plate appearances at Triple-A, the Washington outfielder appears set to play every day in left field for the Nationals. Wood has all the tools to be a fantasy star, as he reached double-digits in both homers and steals -- 10 apiece -- with 37 RBI and 44 runs scored in 52 games with Rochester before his call-up. • James Wood singles, walks in MLB debut
James Wood singled and walked in five plate appearances in his major league debut Monday against the Mets.

Advice: The single came in his first big-league bat, as he managed to power a two-strike fastball through the left side of the infield (it helped a great deal that, because the Mets were shifted, it was Mark Vientos trying to field the grounder, rather than Francisco Lindor). Three of Wood’s four balls in play tonight were hit hard; in addition to the 107-mph single, he had a 96-mph lineout and a 95-mph groundout. Rotoworld Monday, 7:32 pm
