    • Steals base in loss
Garcia went 0-for-3 with a walk and a steal in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Garcia stole his seventh bag of the season in fourth inning then was thrown out at home trying to score on Leody Taveras' single. Garcia, who stole 25 bases (31 attempts) in 2022, is an occasional base stealer these days. He was successful on nine of 10 attempts last year and seven of nine thus far in 2024. Thursday's walk extended Garcia's on-base streak to 14 games (.350 OBP). Rotowire.com Today, 6:15 am

    • Begins rehab assignment
Bogaerts (shoulder) went 1-for-3 with a walk in his first rehab game with Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.

Advice: Bogaerts is expected to require 7-to-10 days on his rehab assignment, so he could be back just before the All-Star break if all goes well. The veteran infielder has been sidelined since late May with a fractured left shoulder. Rotowire.com Today, 6:14 am

    • Xander Bogaerts reaches twice in rehab contest
Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) went 1-for-3 with a walk on Thursday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: Bogaerts, who was at designated hitter on Thursday in his rehab assignment debut, is working his way back from a fractured left shoulder that sent him to the injured list back on May 20. The 31-year-old figures to return as San Diego’s primary option at the keystone, but could wind up bouncing around between several positions moving forward. He’s going to require additional rehab contests to get back up to speed before returning to San Diego’s lineup. Rotoworld Today, 3:23 am

    • Registers second steal
Naylor went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one stolen base in Thursday's 8-4 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Naylor has gone 13-for-36 (.361) with seven extra-base hits and eight RBI over his last 12 contests. His steal Thursday was his second of the campaign on three attempts. While he doesn't offer much speed, he's started to hit well enough to maintain steady playing time behind the dish, though he's at a .203/.272/.330 slash line through 61 games overall. Austin Hedges is backing up Naylor at catcher while David Fry has seen most of his recent playing time at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:13 pm

    • Collects 22nd save
Suarez allowed a walk during a scoreless inning of relief Thursday to pick up the save against the Rangers. He struck out one.

Advice: Suarez picked up the save for the second-consecutive day, giving him 22 in 23 opportunities on the season. Suarez has not allowed a run in 32 of his 35 appearances, posting an ERA of 1.02 with a 0.76 WHIP and 33 strikeouts over 35.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:59 pm
    • Picks up seventh win
King (7-5) picked up the win Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks against the Rangers. He struck out five.

Advice: King held the Rangers scoreless through five, then was removed after allowing two batters to reach base with one out in the sixth, eventually resulting in one earned run against. It's the sixth time in his last eight starts that King has allowed one earned run or fewer and the 10th such outing this season. Over his last eight outings, King has tossed 44 innings with a 2.45 ERA and 53 strikeouts. His next opportunity to toe the rubber is scheduled to come at home against the Mariners next week. • Fares well in no-decision
Miller allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out six over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Orioles on Thursday.

Advice: Miller gave up a two-run home run to Gunnar Henderson in the third inning, but he was able to limit the damage there. While he came an out shy of a quality start for the second time in four outings, Miller put in a decent performance to avoid a third straight loss. The right-hander is at a 3.84 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 97:29 K:BB over 103 innings across 18 starts. He's projected for a road outing in San Diego in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:39 pm

    • Bryce Miller lasts 5 2/3 frames in no-decision
Bryce Miller allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Orioles.

Advice: Miller surrendered eight hits, including a two-run homer to Orioles superstar Gunnar Henderson, which accounted for all of the damage against him in a low-scoring showdown at T-Mobile Park. He finished with six strikeouts and only handed out one free pass. He’ll bring a respectable 3.84 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 97/29 K/BB ratio across 103 innings (18 starts) into a road tilt on Wednesday against the Padres in his final outing prior to the All-Star break. • Goes seven strong to earn win
Taillon (5-4) earned the win Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits over seven innings against the Phillies. He struck out seven.

Advice: Taillon allowed a two-out solo home run by Nick Castellanos in the fourth that left the Cubs in a 2-0 hole, but Taillon then received nine runs of support while retiring 10 of the last 11 Phillies he faced to cruise to his fifth victory of the season. It was the fifth-straight start for Taillon in which he's tossed at least six innings while allowing three or fewer earned runs, posting a 2.25 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 30 strikeouts over 29 innings during that stretch. He's set up to face another tough matchup in his next start, likely to take place next week when the Cubs travel to Baltimore to take on the Orioles. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:15 pm
