      Anderson (7-7) picked up the win Tuesday against Oakland, allowing three runs on five hits and five walks across five innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: Walks have been an especially pertinent issue for Anderson as of late, with Tuesday's start being his third time issuing five free passes in six appearances. Despite finding the strike zone on just 62 of his 109 pitches, Anderson was good enough at limiting damage to pull out his seventh victory of the season. Still, when the A's made contact, they hit Anderson hard. Three of the 34-year-old's five hits surrendered went for extra bases, with Brent Rooker clubbing a solo homer in the fifth frame.       Suarez (10-2) took the loss against the Tigers on Tuesday, allowing four runs on nine hits and no walks with four strikeouts over six innings.

      Advice: Suarez opened with four scoreless innings but ran into trouble in the fifth, allowing four runs on five hits in the frame. He rebounded with a scoreless sixth but departed with a 4-0 deficit. This was just the second time Suarez allowed four earned runs in an outing this season, as he had allowed only four total earned runs in 20.1 June innings prior to Tuesday.       Irvin (6-4) took the loss against the Guardians on Tuesday, allowing eight runs (four earned) on 10 hits with no walks and one strikeout over four innings.

      Advice: Irvin allowed three runs in the first two innings and then five runs in a disastrous fifth frame that included a three-run home run by Jose Ramirez. An error in the fifth resulted in four of the runs being unearned, but the lefty allowed 10 hard-hit balls and only generated five swinging strikes in his second consecutive rough outing. Irvin has yielded 13 runs (nine earned) in those two outings and now owns a 3.74 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 74:15 K:BB in 77 innings this season.     • Ranger Suárez stumbles in loss to Tigers
      Ranger Suárez allowed four runs over six innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Tigers.

      Advice: Suárez was simply outdueled by Tigers ace Tarik Skubal on Tuesday night at Comerica Park as the pair traded zeroes until the fifth inning when Detroit’s lineup struck for four runs on five hits in the frame. He finished with four punchouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. It was just the second time this season through 16 starts that he’s allowed four earned runs or more.       The Angels transferred Sandoval (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

      Advice: Sandoval was diagnosed with a torn UCL in his left elbow Monday and is expected to miss at least a full calendar year.       Angels transferred LHP Patrick Sandoval to the 60-day injured list.

      Advice: Sandoval was in the midst of one of the better stretches of his career before suffering a serious left elbow injury during last Friday’s start against the Dodgers. The 27-year-old southpaw will undergo season-ending surgery in the near future and is expected to miss a significant chunk, if not all, of the 2025 campaign as well.     • Diagnosed with torn UCL
      Sandoval told reporters Monday that he has a high-grade flexor tear and a torn UCL in his left elbow, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

      Advice: Sandoval was removed in the third inning of Friday's start against the Dodgers, and he was placed on the injured list Saturday. The injury is more severe than what was originally labelled a left elbow strain, and the 27-year-old southpaw will have to undergo surgery. Whether Sandoval undergoes an internal brace procedure or Tommy John has yet to be determined, but he will be out of action for at least a year. Prior to the injury, Sandoval was 2-8 over 16 starts with a 5.08 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 81:35 K:BB over 79.2 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:14 pm
