    • Christian Walker homers twice again versus Dodgers
      Christian Walker hit two more homers and walked twice Thursday as the Diamondbacks dominated the Dodgers 9-3.

      Advice: Walker also homered twice Thursday. He has nine homers in nine games against the Dodgers this season, compared to 12 in 78 games against everyone else.       Doval allowed a hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 4-2 win over Atlanta.

      Advice: Doval has converted his first two save chances in July after a tumultuous June. He's allowed one run over his last seven innings, converting four of his five save chances in that span. Overall, he's 16-for-19 in saves with a 4.15 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 46:22 K:BB through 34.2 innings, though his status as the Giants' closer hasn't been threatened.       Morton (5-5) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings to take the loss versus the Giants on Thursday.

      Advice: Morton continues to alternated between good and bad starts, with this one being not particularly sharp. He threw 54 of 94 pitches for strikes and served up home runs to Heliot Ramos and Matt Chapman in the fourth inning. This was the first time all year Morton has been taken deep multiple times in a start. He's been generally effective with a 3.96 ERA despite a 1.25 WHIP and 92:38 K:BB over 91 innings across 16 starts. The veteran right-hander is projected to make his next start at Arizona.       Ozzie Albies went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored against the Giants on Thursday.

      Advice: Albies doubled in the first inning off Logan Webb and Jared Kelenic ended up scoring on a throwing error by Mike Yastrzemski.       Camilo Doval tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Braves on Thursday.

    • Morton allows three earned runs in loss Thursday
      Charlie Morton allowed four runs (three earned) in 5 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Giants on Thursday.



      Advice: Morton gave up five hits, walked two and struck out five. He had won two of his last three starts. Morton gave up a two-run home run to Heliot Ramos and a solo home run to Matt Chapman in the third inning. In the sixth inning, Chapman got him again for an RBI double. Morton has a 3.96 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 91 innings this season. The 40-year-old right-hander is set to face the Diamondbacks on the road next week.

      Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, one stolen base and two total runs scored in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Orioles.

      Advice: Rodriguez earned his first multi-hit effort and swatted his first homer in 15 games. During the slump, he went just 7-for-56 (.125) while failing to log an extra-base hit or RBI. Rodriguez's recent poor play has seen him bounce around the lineup in an effort to get his bat going -- he hit fifth Thursday but had batted seventh in the previous two games.       Happ went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and six RBI during Thursday's 10-2 win against the Phillies.

      Advice: Happ blasted his 12th dinger in the fourth with a three-run blast from the right side of the plate that put the Cubs on the board, then turned around and repeated the feat from the left side of the plate in the fifth. It was the second multi-homer game of the season for Happ while the six RBI represent a season high. Happ, who entered the day batting 6-for-38 (.158) over the last 12 games, raised his season average from .227 to .238 with 13 homers, 20 doubles, 50 RBI, 47 runs and seven steals.       Julio Rodríguez went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and also stole a base on Thursday, powering the Mariners to a 7-3 victory over the Orioles.

      Advice: Rodríguez connected for his first homer since June 15 when he launched a towering 428-foot blast to left field off Orioles ace Corbin Burnes in the fifth inning. It was his eighth round-tripper of the season and a much-needed sign for the 23-year-old superstar, who has been mired in a season-long tailspin at the dish. The absence of over-the-fence pop has been the most alarming trend in his sudden decline, so this performance certainly qualifies as a step in the right direction.
