    • Bailey Falter leaves start with arm discomfort
The Pirates announced that Bailey Falter was removed from Saturday’s start against the Mets due to left posterior arm discomfort.

Advice: He’s currently being evaluated and treated by the Pirates’ medical team. Despite the vagaries of the diagnosis, anything related to the arm isn’t encouraging. The 27-year-old’s southpaw next start should be in question at a minimum and it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see him land on the injured list. The Pirates should have more information on his status at some point before Sunday’s series finale. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

    • Battling arm discomfort
Falter was removed from his start Saturday against the Mets due to left posterior arm discomfort.

Advice: Falter was only able to get through two innings before making an early exit, surrendering three earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two batters. The Pirates' medical staff will take him in for further testing, and the team will likely have a better idea of his availability for his next start once his results come back. • Bailey Falter pulled in third with apparent injury
Bailey Falter was pulled from Saturday’s start against the Mets in the third inning due to an apparent injury.

Advice: Falter delivered five straight balls in the third inning — including a walk of J.D. Martinez to load the bases — which prompted a visit from the training staff. After a quick consultation, the decision was made to remove Falter from the ballgame. He’ll head for further evaluation. Expect the Pirates to provide an update on his status before the game concludes. Rotoworld Today, 1:59 pm

    • Tyler Anderson tosses eight scoreless vs. Cubs
Tyler Anderson struck out ten batters over eight scoreless innings in a win over the Cubs on Saturday.

Advice: Anderson was masterful on Saturday, shutting the Cubs down over eight innings. He scattered three hits and did not walk a batter, tossing 66-of-98 pitches for strikes. Anderson induced an impressive 22 whiffs to strike out ten batters. The 34-year-old left-hander is having an excellent season, posting a 2.81 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 7747 K/BB ratio across 112 innings. He’ll take on the Mariners in Anaheim on Thursday. Rotoworld Today, 1:56 pm
    • Records ninth steal
Winn went 1-for-6 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Friday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Nationals.

Advice: Winn hadn't recorded a steal since June 4, though he has nine thefts on 12 attempts this season. The shortstop is hitting .279 (17-for-61) over his last 14 games, a slight dip from his .291 batting average overall. He's added a .756 OPS, four home runs, 29 RBI, 35 runs scored, 18 doubles and three triples over 79 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 10:16 am

    • Carlos Correa hits grand slam in loss to Astros
Carlos Correa hit his third career grand slam Friday against the Astros.

Advice: The slam was off Josh Hader in the ninth, but the Twins still came up a little short after scoring seven runs in the final frame of a 13-12 loss. It was Correa’s 11th homer this year., and he’s been one of the AL’s best players while batting .307/.377/.514. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:53 pm

    • Pummels three homers
Smith went 3-for-3 with three solo home runs, two walks and four total runs scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Smith hit just two homers in June, so he's already off to a fantastic start in July. The catcher went to the opposite field for his first-inning blast before pulling his solo shots in the third and seventh innings. Smith is up to a .276/.349/.502 slash line with 14 homers, 53 RBI, 45 runs scored, 18 doubles and one triple over 73 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:24 pm

    • Michael Lorenzen combines on shutout of Rays
Michael Lorenzen pitched around five walks to shut out the Rays for five innings in the Rangers’ 3-0 victory Friday.

Advice: Lorenzen surrendered just one hit, a double off the bat of Brandon Lowe. It wound up being a three-hit shutout for the Rangers’ pitching staff, with José Leclerc, Jacob Latz, David Robertson and Kirby Yates combining to finish the effort. Lorenzen is now 5-4 with a 3.21 ERA. It will be interesting to see if the Rangers choose to move him with Tyler Mahle, Cody Bradford and Jacob deGrom all seemingly on the way back. • Suarez blows save in collapse vs. Diamondbacks
Robert Suarez got just one out and gave up three runs in a blown save against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: The good news is Suarez didn’t end up with a loss because Paul Sewald was just as bad, if not worse. The bad news is, see above. Suarez was handed a big 7-2 cushion when he came in, but he gave up a grand slam to Alek Thomas — with the three inherited runners not counting against his ERA, and a two-run blast to Randal Grichuk to give Arizona an 8-7 lead. Suarez was then pulled in favor of Stephen Kolek to prevent further damage. Suarez still has an excellent 1.77 ERA and will remain the San Diego closer, but Friday night was an ugly reminder that he — and most closers — are far from infallible. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:59 pm
