    • Tallies three hits
Mountcastle went 3-for-5 with a double and one run scored in Tuesday's 10-8 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Mountcastle has four multi-hit efforts over his last seven games, going 11-for-28 (.393) in that span. While he hasn't hit a homer since June 7, he's still been consistent at the plate while occupying a starting role at first base. The 27-year-old is slashing .281/.325/.476 with 11 homers, 39 RBI, 43 runs scored, 21 doubles, one triple and two stolen bases over 74 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:54 pm

    • Nabs two bags in loss
Garcia went 0-for-2 with two steals, two walks and one run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Garcia drew a second consecutive start at the keystone and stole two bases in the first inning after leading off with a walk. The 24-year-old has struggled mightily in June, as he entered the contest slashing .145/.211/.169 with no homers and four steals across 90 plate appearances. The Kansas City infield became more crowded with CJ Alexander debuting and Michael Massey (back) returning from the injured list Monday (though Massey will serve as DH for now), so Garcia will have to start producing at the plate and on the basepaths to maintain a starting role. • Josh Smith drives in lone run for Rangers in loss
Josh Smith went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Smith singled off Hoby Milner in the first inning to score Corey Seager from second, giving the Rangers an early 1-0 lead and their only run of the game. Smith was responsible for just one of five hits the Rangers had on the night, but the young third baseman has turned in a solid June, going 22-for-61 (.361) at the plate with eight extra-base hits and 10 RBI. • Progressing in baseball activities
Carpenter (back) took swings off a tee Monday and participated in throwing and running drills Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old was shut down in late May due to a lumbar spine stress fracture, but he's now back to taking part in baseball activities. Carpenter still has significant rehab work to do before being ready for game action, and he'll likely require a minor-league rehab assignment before returning from the 10-day injured list. • Still not with team
Hernandez (personal) is unavailable for Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Hernandez is currently tending to personal matters in the Dominican Republic and was initially expected to rejoin the team prior to Tuesday's contest. However, manager Dave Roberts gave Hernandez an extra day off. The 31-year-old outfielder could be back in the lineup Wednesday for the series finale. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:54 pm
    • Teoscar Hernandez (personal) won’t play Tuesday
Teoscar Hernández (personal) will not play in Tuesday’s game against the White Sox.

Advice: Hernández was scheduled to fly back from the Dominican Republic to Chicago for Tuesday’s affair, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided to give the 31-year-old another day off according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times. It’s likely that Hernández will be back in the lineup Wednesday against the Pale Hose. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:45 pm
    • Taking seat against LHP
O'Hearn is absent from the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Guardians, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: As per usual, O'Hearn will be held out of the lineup with the Orioles facing a southpaw, as Logan Allen takes the mound for Cleveland on Tuesday. O'Hearn is riding a five-game hit streak, batting 7-for-22 with eight RBI during that span. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:44 am

    • Ends slump Monday
Perez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-1 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Perez had gone 0-for-14 over his previous four games, and he'd gone seven contests without an extra-base hit. Both droughts ended when the catcher went back-to-back with Vinnie Pasquantino in the fourth inning, with Perez's homer serving as the decisive run. A poor June -- 11-for-57 (.157) over 20 games -- has taken some of the shine off of what was a strong start to the year for Perez. He's now slashing .280/.352/.462 with 12 homers, 46 RBI, 29 runs scored and 15 doubles through 77 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:55 am

    • Works out of leadoff role Monday
Bleday hit leadoff for the first time this season in a loss to the Angels on Monday, going 1-for-4.

Advice: Max Schuemann led off Saturday and Sunday against the Twins following Abraham Toro's (hamstring) placement on the injured list, but the rookie went 0-for-8 with four strikeouts in that pair of games. That led to manager Mark Kotsay shaking things up Monday, deploying Bleday in the leadoff role for the first time. While the slugging outfielder may not seem like the prototypical candidate for the job on the surface, Bleday does have a solid .335 on-base percentage, 10.7 percent walk rate and 18.4 percent strikeout rate that speak to a level of plate discipline befitting a spot atop the order.
