    Advice: Bubic began his rehab assignment at the Royals' rookie level Arizona Complex affiliate May 7 and he'll now advance to Double-A. He made three appearances at the rookie level, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out eight batters over 3.1 innings.     Manager Bob Melvin said Saturday that Cobb (hip/shoulder) has paused his throwing program due to further complications with his right shoulder, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

    Advice: Cobb has now been pulled off his throwing program three times since the beginning of the season due to problems with his shoulder. An MRI of his shoulder came back negative in late April, but the Giants will likely want to take another look just to be absolutely certain the right-hander isn't dealing with some underlying issue.     Advice: Giants manager Bob Melvin told reporters Cobb isn’t close to returning since he’s still feeling something in his shoulder. The 36-year-old righty underwent an MRI last month that didn’t reveal any structural damage, so it’s a really bad sign that he’s still having issues.     Sean Newcomb (knee) will kick off a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday with the Athletics’ Rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate.

    Advice: Newcomb, who is currently on the 60-day injured list with left knee irritation, is working his way back from last year’s knee surgery and is expected to return as a reliever.
