    • Moves up order against lefty
Carroll batted second and went 1-for-4 with a double in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Nationals.

Advice: Carroll had been dropped to the lower third of the order against left-handers a couple of weeks ago, but he was moved back to the top third Wednesday. A 12-game stretch during which he batted .340/.446/.511 may have influenced manager Torey Lovullo's decision to get Carroll's higher in the order. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago
    • Taking seat Wednesday
Rafaela is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Rafaela will get his first day off since May 30, clearing the way for Romy Gonzalez to pick up a start in center field. Though he's cobbled together a modest .687 OPS for the season, Rafaela has been running hot of late at the dish, slashing .468/.490/.596 with four extra-base hits and two stolen bases over his last 12 games. • Sitting versus lefty
Pederson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Nationals.

Advice: Pederson's only start against a lefty this season came earlier this month versus a left-handed opener in the Giants' Erik Miller. With the Nationals sending southpaw Patrick Corbin to the bump Wednesday, Pederson will take a seat while Eugenio Suarez serves as Arizona's designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:53 am
    • Three hits in Tuesday's win
Pederson went 3-for-4 in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Nationals.

Advice: All three knocks were singles, but it was still another busy night on the basepaths for Pederson, who also got hit by a pitch. The veteran slugger is batting .375 (12-for-32) over the last 10 games with two doubles, two homers, two steals, eight runs and 12 RBI as he takes advantage of a long stretch of right-handers being sent to the mound against the Diamondbacks. With Patrick Corbin and MacKenzie Gore set to start for Washington in the final two games of the series, however, Pederson figures to head to the bench despite his current form. • Sizzling bat continues in win
Rafaela went 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and an RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 win over Toronto.

Advice: Rafaela drove in the game-winning run with an eighth-inning single. The rookie's bat continues to sizzle; Rafaela has hit safely in seven consecutive games, including multiple hits in six of those contests. He's 16-for-26 (.615) with three doubles, a home run, two steals, four RBI and six runs scored during the streak. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:51 am
    • Active in return
Carroll went 2-for-3 with two walks, a triple, a stolen base and a caught stealing in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Carroll was removed from Sunday's game with discomfort in his left side, but he was ready to go Tuesday after an MRI came back clean. He led off the game with a walk, stole second base, then trotted in on Ketel Marte's home run. Carroll later tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly. The 2023 NL Rookie of the Year's season-opening slump has started to lift; he's 16-for-47 (.340) with four doubles, two triples, nine walks, four steals and 16 runs scored over the last 12 games. • Rafaela has three-hit night in win over Blue Jays
Ceddanne Rafaela went 3-for-4 and a double and one RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: The Red Sox’s No. 9 hitter came up big on Tuesday as his third hit drove in the go-ahead run to complete the comeback over the Jays. Rafaela has been hot of late, hitting in seven straight games while going 16-for-26 over that span. He’s slashing a solid .377/.406/.475 in June but continues to strike out at a high rate (32.8 percent) when he’s not getting on base. We’ll see how long this hot-hitting continues for the young centerfielder. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:44 pm
    • Carroll has two-hit night in win over Nationals.
Corbin Carroll went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Nationals.

Advice: Carroll tripled in the fifth inning to score Geraldo Perdomo from second and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Ketel Marte. After a slow start to the season, Carroll has hit much better this month. While he’s still looking for his first homer in June, he’s slashing a solid .293/.406/.431 with six extra base hits and 10 walks. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:20 pm
    • Fernando Tatis Jr. gets first day off this season
Fernando Tatis Jr. is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Phillies.

Advice: It’s an extremely rare off day for Tatis, who has appeared in all 76 contests this season for San Diego, despite playing through a minor quad issue over the last few weeks. The 25-year-old corner outfielder has hit a bit of a frosty stretch over the last few days at the dish, batting .185 (5-for-27) with one homer and 10 strikeouts over his last seven games. He’ll get a quick breather to rest and recover before returning for Wednesday afternoon’s series finale. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:12 pm
