      Birdsong is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday in Atlanta, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: The banged-up Giants have only two members of their Opening Day rotation (Logan Webb and Jordan Hicks) available at the moment, so San Francisco should have a spot available for Birdsong until at least three of Kyle Harrison (ankle), Blake Snell (groin), Alex Cobb (hip), Robbie Ray (elbow) and Keaton Winn (elbow) come back from the injured list. After being expedited to the big leagues last week following just two starts at Triple-A Sacramento, Birdsong demonstrated shaky command in his MLB debut against the Cubs on Wednesday, giving up three runs on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. On a positive note, Birdsong induced nine swings and misses and finished with five punchouts. His long-term outlook remains promising, but Birdsong shapes up as a risky fantasy option heading into what will likely be a two-start week.       Advice: The Nationals had only three hits on the afternoon, so while Abrams was busy on the basepaths, his efforts couldn't generate any offense. The 23-year-old shortstop had been slumping heading into June, but he wrapped up the month with a dazzling .373/.464/.663 slash line in 97 plate appearances, adding four of his 13 homers on the season and six of his 14 steals.       Advice: Nimmo continues to swing a hot bat, collecting three more hits including a game-tying homer in the seventh.       Helsley struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save over Cincinnati on Sunday.

      Advice: Helsley efficiently rolled through the Reds' 2-3-4 hitters with just 10 pitches. He extended his MLB save lead and became the first pitcher in the 2024 season to reach 30 saves.       Advice: Malloy's blast in the fourth inning, his third of the season, extended the Detroit lead to 4-0. The rookie has gotten off to a sluggish start in the majors, as he's still batting only .175 with a 38 percent strikeout rate after Sunday. Despite the struggles, Malloy has good power potential, and his prospect pedigree suggests that he'll figure it out at some point.       Kopech struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Sunday against the Rockies. The game was tied at the time, and the White Sox would go on to lose in 14 innings.

      Advice: Kopech made his third appearance in four days after recording back-to-back saves June 27 and June 28. The right-hander delivered Sunday, retiring the side in order while striking out two batters on just eight pitches.       Advice: Nimmo’s two extra-base hits came at extremely clutch times for the Mets: his two-run homer, the 100th of his career, tied this game in the seventh and his RBI double again brought the Mets even in extra innings. His resurgence over the last few weeks has been a spectacle as he’s pulled his OPS up from .708 on June 13th to .815 today. He’s found a home in the two-hole of the Mets’ lineup and is on pace for 26 homers, 30 doubles, 106 runs scored, 100 RBI, and 10 stolen bases this season. That is the statline of a bona fide stud.     • Justyn-Henry Malloy homers, Tigers edge Angels
      Justyn-Henry Malloy went 2-for-3 with an inside-the-park homer on Sunday, leading the Tigers to a 7-6 win over the Angels.

      Advice: Malloy has compiled cringe-inducing numbers this season since getting the call to the majors back in early June, but he made his presence felt in this one with a two-run, inside-the-park homer off Angels southpaw Tyler Anderson in the fourth inning. It was just his third big fly in 23 games so far in the big leagues as he’s also struck out 28 times in 73 plate appearances during that span. The 24-year-old was an on-base machine in the upper minors, but he’s still clearly a work in progress at the highest level.
