    • McCormick drives in two in win over Rockies
Chas McCormick went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Rockies.

Advice: McCormick’s two-RBI single in the first capped off a five-run inning for the Astros, who sent all nine batters to the plate against embattled starter Austin Gomber. McCormick also picked up a steal on the night, his fifth of the season, but is slashing a meager .250/.262/.575 on the month. Rotoworld Today, 8:04 pm

    • Progressing in baseball activities
Carpenter (back) took swings off a tee Monday and participated in throwing/running drills Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old was shut down in late May due to a lumbar spine stress fracture, but he's now back to taking part in baseball activities. Carpenter still has significant rehab work to do before being ready for game action, and he'll likely require a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining the Tigers. Rotowire.com Today, 2:04 pm

    • Playing time ticking up
McCormick went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Sunday against the Orioles.

Advice: McCormick's line isn't notable, but Sunday marked his third start in Houston's last four games against a right-handed pitcher. He had previously been losing playing time against righties to Trey Cabbage and Mauricio Dubon, but the absence of Kyle Tucker (shin) and lack of production from Jake Meyers have opened up playing time for McCormick. He's shown modest improvement in his last five starts, going 4-for-14 with a pair of homers, three RBI and five runs scored. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:12 am

    • Drives in five Saturday
Castellanos went 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBI in Saturday's 12-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 32-year-old slugger was hot from the jump, lofting a sacrifice fly in the first inning before crushing a two-run homer to left field off Scott McGough in the fifth and adding a two-run single in the sixth. Castellanos has shaken off his sluggish start to the campaign, and through 18 games in June he's slashing .270/.304/.554 with four homers, 10 runs and 13 RBI. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:47 am

    • Best game of season
McCormick went 3-for-3 with a pair of solo home runs, a stolen base and three total runs scored in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Orioles.

Advice: McCormick got a rare start versus a right-hander -- his second in the last three games -- and he made it count by taking Corbin Burnes deep in the fifth inning. All three of McCormick's homers this year have come within his last five games, and he's added six RBI and six runs scored in that span. Overall, he's posted a mediocre .225/.286/.358 slash line with 15 RBI, 15 runs scored and three stolen bases across 133 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:03 pm

    • Castellanos belts 11th home run in win Saturday
Nick Castellanos went 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBI against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Advice: Castellanos’ home run was his 11th of the season and went so far he started removing his protective elbow pad before he even exited the batter’s box. In all, he had a sacrifice fly, two-run home run and two-run double. Castellanos has struggled this season with a .225 average and .672 OPS, but the Phillies lineup still provides opportunities to drive in runs as he now has 37 RBI on the year. • Chas McCormick homers twice in win over Orioles
Chas McCormick homered twice to help the Astros to a 5-1 win over the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: McCormick also singled and scored three times in the contest. His last homer may have earned the ire of those who roster Josh Hader, as it made it a 5-1 game and took away a save chance for Hader. McCormick has dealt with injuries, but more games like this will (obviously) give him a good chance of getting more playing time going forward. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:30 pm

    • Kerry Carpenter (back) to start baseball activity
Kerry Carpenter (back) told reporters on Friday that he has been cleared to start baseball activities on Monday.

Advice: The 26-year-old slugger will need at least a couple of weeks to ramp back up and will require a minor league rehab assignment before he’s ready to return to the Tigers’ lineup. If all goes well and he’s able to avoid any setbacks, we could see him back in the Olde English D right after the All-Star break. Before landing on the injured list, Carpenter was hitting .283/.342/.572 with eight homers and 29 RBI in his first 50 ballgames. Rotoworld Friday, 2:36 pm

    • To begin baseball activities
Carpenter (back) hopes to resume baseball activities Monday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Carpenter had been shut down since late May due to a lumbar spine stress fracture but is ready to begin baseball activities in the coming days. While he's still a ways out from returning, it's the first advancement he's made since being placed on the IL. Expect Carpenter to require a multi-game minor-league rehab stint before being cleared. In the meantime, Matt Vierling and Wenceel Perez should share the outfield with Riley Greene most nights. Rotowire.com Friday, 12:53 pm
