    • Getting breather
Melendez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Despite Kansas City facing a right-hander Tuesday, Melendez will miss the Royals starting nine. Instead, Garrett Hampson will play left field and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Today, 12:21 pm

    • MJ Melendez singles in Royals’ loss to Twins
MJ Melendez went 1-for-3 with a single on Monday in the Royals’ loss to the Twins.

Advice: It’s been a struggle this season at the dish for Melendez as he’s batting just .179 (27-for-151) with four homers and two steals through 47 games. Perhaps the biggest concern here is that he hasn’t connected for a home run since back on April 19. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:41 pm

    • Lane Thomas activated from the IL
Nationals activated OF Lane Thomas from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Thomas has been on the IL for just over a month with a knee injury. The 28-year-old was tremendous in 2023 but has gotten off to a brutal start in 2024 with a .184/.250/.253 slash line in 22 games. He will remain a fixture in the Nationals’ lineup and should turn things around in the coming weeks. While he may not reach the highs of 2023, he remains a quality MLB outfielder and his 11 steals on the season signal the type of fantasy upside he has. Victor Robles was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:33 am

    • Reinstated from IL
Thomas (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Victor Robles was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Thomas has been out since late April with a Grade 2 MCL sprain, but he is now ready to roll following a four-game rehab stint with Double-A Harrisburg. Thomas mostly struggled over the first few weeks before landing on the IL, slashing .184/.250/.253 with two homers and 11 steals, but he should immediately slot back in as the starting right fielder for Washington. • Lane Thomas (knee) could return Monday for Nats
Lane Thomas (knee) could return to the Nationals lineup Monday against Atlanta.

Advice: Thomas has been on the shelf since April 23 with an MCL sprain in his knee, but he started a rehab assignment Tuesday. Nationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters that Thomas will go through drills prior to Monday’s game, and if things go well, he could be activated to play. The 28-year-old was excellent for most of 2023, and he’d be worth fantasy consideration if/when that takes place. Rotoworld Sunday, 10:30 am

    • Kerry Carpenter out Sunday against Blue Jays
Kerry Carpenter is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: With southpaw Yusei Kikuchi on the mound, Carpenter will get a day of rest Sunday after homering in Saturday’s victory. Wenceel Perez will get the start in right field. Colt Keith also is getting the day off with Andy Ibanez starting at second base. Rotoworld Sunday, 6:47 am

    • Sitting against lefty
Carpenter is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Carpenter will retreat to the bench as the Tigers stock up on extra right-handed bats to counter Blue Jays southpaw Yusei Kikuchi. Wenceel Perez will shift over from his usual spot in center field to cover right field in Carpenter's stead. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:21 am

    • Launches game-winning homer
Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: The 26-year-old slugger took Jose Berrios deep in the first inning, and while it was the only offense Detroit could muster, it was also all the team's pitching staff would need. Carpenter has found his power stroke in May, slugging five of his eight homers on the season in his last 13 games -- a stretch in which he's batting .325 (13-for-40) with 14 RBI. • Kerry Carpenter powers Tigers to win over Jays
Kerry Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer to power the Tigers to a 2-1 victory over the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: Carpenter took José Berríos deep for a two-run shot in the first inning to put the Tigers on the board. He then knocked a base hit in the fourth, but was caught stealing second. The two runs would be all the Tigers needed to take the win against the Blue Jays. The 26-year-old outfielder is having an excellent season, slugging eight homers with 29 RBI while slashing .285/.340/.576 across 161 plate appearances. Rotoworld Saturday, 12:24 pm
