    • Snaps out of funk
Garcia went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Garcia entered Tuesday's game batting .154 in May but delivered his first homer since Apr. 28 and his first multi-hit game since Apr. 21. Even with the cold spell, Garcia is slashing .247/.297/.449 across 175 plate appearances with a .202 ISO, which isn't too far off his 2022 and 2023 numbers. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago
    • Reid Detmers shaky again, gives up five runs
Reid Detmers gave up five runs — four earned — in five innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Cardinals.

Advice: Detmers is high on the short list of the game’s most frustrating pitchers. After a very encouraging open that saw him go 3-0 with a 1.19 ERA in his first four starts, he’s 0-4 with an 8.46 ERA in his last five turns. His peripherals backed up the hot start, but they also mostly back up the huge decline since. We have no clue what’s next from him, but we’d be hesitant to give up on him in mixed leagues; his stuff really does seem to be better than it was last year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:24 pm

    • Struggles versus Cardinals
Detmers allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals.

Advice: While he avoided a fifth straight loss, it was still a poor showing for Detmers. He's given up at least four earned runs in each of his last five outings while walking multiple batters in four of them. He kept the ball in the yard Tuesday, which was a positive, but it's not as encouraging as it could be since the Cardinals have been bereft of power this year. Detmers is at a 5.19 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 56:18 K:BB over 50.1 innings across nine starts in 2024. He's projected to make his next start on the road in Houston. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:50 pm

    • Converts 10th save
McArthur allowed a run on two hits and struck out three without walking a batter over 1.1 innings to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Mariners.

Advice: McArthur gave up a solo home run to Mitch Haniger in the ninth inning, but he was able to avoid any further damage. The right-hander has surrendered seven runs (six earned) over his last five appearances, and he's been tagged for four homers in that span. He's managed to convert saves in each of his last two outings despite the long balls. McArthur is 10-for-13 in save chances this year while adding a 4.58 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 21:3 K:BB through 19.2 innings. He does not appear to be in danger of losing the closer job yet, but it is concerning to see him give up so much hard contact. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:56 pm
    • James McArthur records save against Mariners
James McArthur gave up one run while getting the final four outs for a save Tuesday against the Mariners.

Advice: Mitch Haniger homered off him in the ninth, but the Royals had a three-run lead at the time. It’s the 10th save for McArthur, who has a 4.58 ERA on the season. He’s given up four homers in 19 2/3 innings. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:25 pm
    • Adolis Garcia homers in two-hit night vs. CLE
Adolis Garcia went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in Tuesday’s loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Garcia’s ninth homer of the season came on a solo blast off Cleveland’s Ben Lively. It was the first homer of the month for Garcia, who has cooled off in a big way after a strong April. Garcia entered the day slashing .154/.193/.173 in the month of May and has become difficult to trust in fantasy as a result. Managers who are unwilling to bench him will have to hope he comes out of this slump sooner rather than later. Hopefully, Tuesday’s two-hit night is a step in the right direction. • Blake Snell to make rehab start Friday at Triple-A
Blake Snell (adductor) will make another minor league rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Snell will require one additional tune-up prior to returning to San Francisco’s starting rotation at some point later next week. The 31-year-old southpaw has been on the shelf since late April due to a left adductor strain. He struck out seven batters last Sunday in a dominant rehab outing for Single-A San Jose. • Next rehab start Friday
Snell (thigh) will make another rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Snell fired four perfect innings while striking out seven batters during his first rehab outing at Single-A San Jose, though he'll be facing some tougher competition during his next start. Assuming everything goes smoothly, Friday is expected to be the 31-year-old's final game in the minors, putting him in line to return from the IL and start May 23 against the Pirates. • Idle Tuesday
Steer isn't in the Reds' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Steer will catch a breather Tuesday after extending his hitting streak to five games while also driving in two runs during Monday's loss. Jacob Hurtubise will get the nod to start in left field and bat ninth while Steer rests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:06 pm
