    • Luis Gil gives up three runs in no-decision Sunday
      Luis Gil pitched decently in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Sunday night, surrendering three runs on five hits over his 5 2/3 innings of work.

      Advice: Gil punched out five batters on the evening while allowing just one base on balls. After keeping the vaunted Dodgers’ offense off the board for the first four innings, they broke through in the fifth on a two-run double by Mookie Betts. They added another in the sixth on a go-ahead solo shot off the bat of Teoscar Hernández. The 26-year-old right-hander got 15 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night — seven each on his fastball and changeup — while posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll bring a terrific 2.04 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and a 90/35 K/BB ratio (75 innings) into Friday’s showdown against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Rotoworld Today, 6:56 pm

    • Jack Flaherty (back) won’t start Tuesday vs. WSH
      Jack Flaherty (back) will not start Tuesday against the Nationals.

      Advice: Flaherty told reporters that he was confident he’d be able to start Tuesday’s game after leaving with back tightness against the Rangers last week, but the Tigers want to give the right-hander some more time to recuperate. Kenta Maeda, Reese Olson and Casey Mize will start in the series against Washington, and Flaherty will get the ball against the Astros on either Friday or Saturday. Rotoworld Today, 8:38 am

      Brown (1-3) took the loss to the Reds on Saturday, allowing three runs on three hits and one walk while striking out three over four innings.

      Advice: Brown gave up multiple home runs in a game for the first time in his young career. Jeimer Candelario took him deep in the first inning and then TJ Friedl got him for the go-ahead homer in the third. The rookie right-hander has now given up eight runs in his last two starts after a stellar showing of seven no-hit innings against the Brewers on May 28.     • Stumbles against ChiSox
      Bello (6-3) took the loss Saturday as the Red Sox fell 6-1 to the White Sox, giving up five runs on nine hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: Only two of the hits off the right-hander went for extra bases, but one of those was a grand slam by Gavin Sheets in the fifth inning. Bello has been tagged for at least three runs in five straight starts, a stretch in which he's stumbled to a 6.75 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 24:12 K:BB over 26.2 innings.     • Bello gives up five runs, grand slam Saturday
      Brayan Bello allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings and took the loss against the White Sox on Saturday.

      Advice: Bello gave up nine hits, walked three and struck out two. Things came apart for Bello in the fifth inning when he walked two batters with two outs to load the bases before Gavin Sheets took him deep for a grand slam. Understandably frustrated, Bello slammed his glove in the dugout after he was removed from the game. That’s been the tale of Bello’s season so far as he has just a 70 percent left on base percentage. His ERA is inflated at 4.78 while his xFIP paints a different picture at 3.66. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Yankees at home next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:09 pm

      Ben Brown allowed three runs in four innings and took the loss against the Reds on Saturday.



      Advice: Brown gave up three hits, walked one and struck out three. He allowed five runs in his last start, which was also against the Reds. Brown has completed five innings in only three of his eight starts for the Cubs this year. He’s still looking for his first win as a starting pitcher. Outside of his performance on May 28th against the Brewers when he went seven innings, allowed no runs and recorded 10 strikeouts, Brown’s been fairly pedestrian when starting. The 24-year-old right-hander is tentatively scheduled to face the Cardinals at home next week.

    • Surrenders seven in no-decision
      Miller did not factor into the decision in Friday's 10-9 loss to Kansas City, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out one.

      Advice: Miller posted his worst start of the season, allowing nine baserunners and seven runs, each marking season worsts. The Seattle right-hander was cruising through three scoreless innings before allowing four runs in the fourth, rounded out by a three-run blast from MJ Melendez. The outing pushed Miller's WHIP up to 1.02 to go with a 3.81 ERA over 75.2 innings. The 25-year-old will look to bounce back in his next scheduled start against the White Sox at home.       Advice: Miller was handed an 8-0 lead, but he nearly gave it all back himself. The right-hander walked three while allowing eight hits — including a three-run homer to MJ Melendez — and he struck out just one in his worst start of the season.       Flaherty (back) said he expects to make his next start, which is scheduled for Tuesday against Washington, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

      Advice: Flaherty was pulled after 60 pitches in his last start due to back tightness, but it seems as though he's avoided any significant injury and is all but confirmed to face the Nationals. Considering back injuries can be touch and go, there remains a small risk that the issue will flare up again.
