      Duran picked up the save Tuesday against Kansas City, allowing two hits and no walks with a strikeout over one scoreless inning.

      Advice: Duran surrendered a leadoff double to Salvador Perez and then a single to Adam Frazier, putting runners on the corners with no outs in the ninth. However, pinch-runner Dairon Blanco was caught stealing second and Duran retired MJ Melendez and Nick Loftin back-to-back to keep the Royals off the scoreboard.       Ragans (4-4) took the loss Tuesday against Minnesota, allowing three runs on nine hits and a walk across five innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Ragans stranded a runner in all five of his innings pitched and had a difficult time getting through a Twins lineup that featured seven righties and a pair of switch hitters. The southpaw relied heavily on his ability to miss bats, inducing 14 whiffs and generating seven or more strikeouts for the fifth time in his last six starts.       Jhoan Duran earned his eighth save of the season in Tuesday’s win over the Royals.

      Advice: Back-to-back hits to kick off the ninth got Duran in trouble early, but he was able to buckle down and retire his remaining batters to earn the win for the Twins, who have now won six of their last seven.     • Cole Ragans allows three earned runs in loss
      Cole Ragans allowed nine hits and three earned runs over five innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Twins.

      Advice: Ragans ran into trouble in the first inning when he allowed back-to-back hits to his first two batters faced, only to see both players score on a Jose Miranda single a few batters later. Ragans would allow another run in the fourth on a Manuel Margot double, as the left was hit around for much of the evening. His nine hits allowed tied for the second-most he’s allowed on the season, as Ragans has struggled at times to limit base runners despite a solid 3.49 ERA.       Gavin Stone recorded seven strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Mets.

      Advice: Stone drew the starting assignment for the nightcap of Tuesday’s twin bill at Citi Field and authored one of his best outings of the year. He scattered three hits, didn’t hand out a free pass, and established a new season-high mark with seven strikeouts. The 25-year-old righty has allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight of his 10 starts this season and will bring a respectable 3.16 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 41/17 K/BB ratio across 57 innings (10 starts) into a road matchup next Wednesday against the Pirates.     • Mason Miller shuts door on Rays for 11th save
      Mason Miller earned a save by preserving a 3-0 win over the Rays on Tuesday.

      Advice: Miller, who hadn’t pitched in two days, didn’t make it easy on himself. After getting the first two batters out, he allowed a single to Yandy Diaz and walked Brandon Lowe to bring the tying run to the plate before striking out Isaac Paredes to end the game. It was his 11th save of the year to go along with a 1.88 ERA. He has emerged as one of the most dominant relievers in baseball and with the A’s proving to be more competitive than many expected, Miller should easily eclipse the 20-save mark this year if he can stay healthy.       Royce Lewis (quad) played seven innings at third base on Tuesday for Triple-A St. Paul.

      Advice: Lewis went 0-for-3 at the dish and made his first appearance in the field since kicking off a minor league rehab assignment last week. The 24-year-old third baseman will presumably require at least a handful of additional tune-up contests to get back up to speed before returning to Minnesota.       The Rangers activated Langford (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The 22-year-old has been on the shelf more than three weeks due to a hamstring injury but will rejoin the Rangers after a three-game rehab stint with Triple-A Round Rock. Langford was struggling offensively before going on the injured list, as he was in the midst of a 3-for-28 slump. Evan Carter (back) was moved to the 10-day IL in a corresponding move. The 22-year-old top prospect hasn’t exactly set the fantasy landscape ablaze following a sizzling-hot spring training performance, batting .224/.295/.293 with one homer, 11 RBI and one steal in 129 plate appearances over 31 contests.
