    • Aims for baseball activities soon
Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that he's hopeful Tucker (shin) will be ready to begin baseball activities this weekend, Casey Drottar of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Tucker's recovery from a right shin contusion has come along more slowly than expected, but he seems to have made some progress in recent days. Because he's already missed more than two weeks, Tucker could require a brief rehab assignment before returning from the 10-day injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:25 am

    • Espada: “Hopeful” Tucker start activities
Astros manager Joe Espada said he was “hopeful Kyle Tucker can begin doing baseball activities on the field this weekend.”

Advice: Tucker’s shin contusion has kept him out longer than most expected, but it’s nice to hear he may progress to working out on the field this weekend. If that goes well, he may require a few rehab games since he’s been out for almost two weeks, but we could see Tucker back in an Astros uniform by the end of next week if his shin responds well to these next steps. • Missing second straight start
Blackmon (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Dodgers, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: He'll stay on the bench for a second straight game while he manages a tight right hamstring. Blackmon's absence clears the way for Jake Cave and Elehuris Montero to pick up another start in right field and at designated hitter, respectively. The Rockies are expecting Blackmon to avoid a stint on the injured list, though the team could change its tune if he isn't ready to go for Friday's series opener versus the Nationals. • Records 10th save
Hader allowed one hit in a scoreless inning while striking out one batter to earn a save against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: It was a relatively easy outing for Hader, who entered in the ninth with Houston ahead by three runs. The veteran closer allowed a one-out single but was never in serious trouble. Hader has converted all 10 of his save chances since blowing his first opportunity of the campaign April 2 versus Toronto. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:57 pm

    • Continues impressive stretch
Brown (4-5) earned the win against the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks while striking out six batters over six innings.

Advice: The only run scored against Brown came on an Andrew Benintendi solo homer in the fourth inning. Otherwise, Brown was solid again -- all six of Chicago's other hits were singles, and the right-handed hurler didn't issue any walks for the second straight outing. Brown had an awful 9.78 ERA through 23 innings across his first six starts this season, but he's since lowered that mark to 4.72. He's been especially impressive of late, racking up six straight quality starts and limiting his opponents to one run over 19 frames while posting a 22:4 K:BB across his past three outings. • Snaps homer drought
Taveras went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 5-3 win against the Mets.

Advice: Taveras began the game on the bench before being called upon to play center field in the top of the seventh inning. In the bottom of that frame, Taveras produced the game-winning runs when he smashed a two-run homer to right-center field. The long ball snapped a 22-game homerless stretch for the outfielder, who hit a meager .147 during that span. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:38 pm

    • Leody Taveras plays hero with pinch-hit home run
Leody Taveras went 1-for-1 with a go-ahead two-run homer in the Rangers’ 5-3 win over the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Taveras was given the night off Wednesday marred in a 3-for-53 slump since the start of June, but won the game for the Rangers with his home run. He’s still a regular in the lineup because of his defense despite a miserable season at the plate. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:54 pm

    • Josh Hader locks down 10th save Wednesday
Josh Hader tossed a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout to record the save against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Hader was summoned to close out the game with a three-run lead in the ninth against the White Sox. He worked around a base hit, striking out one batter to end the game with his tenth save of the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:43 pm

    • Hunter Brown holds White Sox to one run in win
Hunter Brown held the White Sox to one run with six strikeouts over six innings to earn the win on Wednesday.

Advice: Brown has been fantastic over his last several starts. The only run he allowed Wednesday came on a solo homer by Andrew Benintendi in the fourth inning. It was the only run he’s allowed over his last three outings. Brown scattered six other hits while striking out six batters to zero walks. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 4.72 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and an 82/29 K/BB ratio across 74 1/3 innings into a start against the Rockies in Houston on Tuesday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:42 pm
