    • Max Meyer strikes out four on Friday at Triple-A
      Max Meyer struck out four and allowed two runs over four innings on Friday for Triple-A Jacksonville.

      Advice: So much for the whole notion from Marlins manager Skip Schumaker that Meyer would be returning to the majors “soon.” While Miami’s starting rotation continues to struggle, Meyer hasn’t exactly delivered dominant performances his last few times out. Still, he’s a vastly superior option than the cromulent journeymen the Marlins keep throwing out there. It’s only a matter of time before the 25-year-old top pitching prospect gets another shot after having his workload closely monitored in the minors over the last few months. His fastball/slider combo remains outstanding and gives him a shot at immediate fantasy relevance once the Marlins finally decide to let him pitch in the majors again. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:45 am

    • Hunter Brown dominates in victory over Tigers
      Hunter Brown delivered a dominant performance in Friday night’s victory over the Tigers, racking up nine strikeouts over seven innings of shutout baseball.

      Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander didn’t walk a batter on the night and all five of the hits that he allowed were singles. Brown generated 15 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night — four or more on each of his sinker, cutter and slider — while registering a strong CSW of 34 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine performance as he carries a 5.00 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and a 76/29 K/BB ratio (68 1/3 innings) into Thursday’s showdown against the White Sox in Chicago.     • Stymies Tigers in victory
      Brown (3-5) earned the win Friday against Detroit, allowing five hits and no walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out nine.

      Advice: Brown entered the game on a hot streak, firing a 2.25 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB in 24 innings over his last four starts. He kept rolling, generating 15 whiffs en route to tying his season high with nine punchouts. The right-hander has been outstanding since May 1, going 3-1 with a 2.58 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 52:15 K:BB in 45.1 innings over seven starts.     • Crushed in loss
      Nola (8-3) took the loss to the Red Sox on Thursday, allowing eight runs on 11 hits and two walks with two strikeouts over 3.2 innings.

      Advice: Nola had two disastrous innings, allowing four runs in both the second and fourth. The fourth inning was especially rough, as he surrendered a three-run homer to Tyler O'Neill and was unable to complete the frame. According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the eight earned runs allowed by Nola tied a career high, and his season ERA climbed from 2.77 to 3.48. Despite the rise in ERA, Nola had previously rattled off five consecutive quality starts and owns a 1.08 WHIP and 78:24 K:BB in 14 outings.       Aaron Nola allowed eight runs in 3 2/3 innings and got the loss against the Red Sox on Thursday.



      Advice: Nola gave up 11 hits, walked two and struck out two. He had allowed more than two runs in just three of his previous 13 starts. Nola allowed four runs in the second and fourth innings. His ERA jumped from 2.77 to 3.48 with the blow up. The 31-year-old right-hander will look to turn things back around against the Padres at home next week.

    • Struggles against Mets
      Garrett (2-2) took the loss against the Mets on Wednesday, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits and no walks while striking out four batters over 4.2 innings.

      Advice: Garrett was tagged by Harrison Bader for a two-run homer in the first inning, and he gave up three more runs in the second. The left-hander settled down a bit from there, but he was pulled with two outs in the fifth inning after serving up a solo shot to Starling Marte. It was the second straight start during which Garrett was unable to complete five frames -- he went just 2.2 innings versus Tampa Bay in his previous appearance. Garrett was great in back-to-back starts May 24 and 29, allowing just one run over 14 frames.       Pivetta did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Phillies, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks with four strikeouts over four innings.

      Advice: It was a rough night from the start, as Pivetta allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base and surrendered two runs in each of the first and third innings. The four walks were a season high, and he allowed at least one baserunner in every inning. Pivetta has been inconsistent this season, with six starts of two or fewer earned runs and three starts yielding five.       Nick Pivetta surrendered four runs in four innings Wednesday in a no-decision versus the Phillies.

      Advice: Pivetta walked four tonight. He’s issued 11 free passes in his last four starts after totaling two in his first five. Pivetta also struck out four tonight. Oddly enough, his nine starts this season have seen him strike out at least eight on five occasions and no more than four the rest of the time. He’s 3-4 with a 3.88 ERA. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:37 pm

    • Struggles again Wednesday
      Olson (1-8) allowed five runs (four earned) on 10 hits across 5.1 innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Nationals. He walked two and struck out three.

      Advice: Although this wasn't as bad as his last outing, when he allowed eight runs on 12 hits over four innings, this still wasn't a great performance from Olson. The righty has now sustained losses in his last three starts, and he has a 10.43 ERA during the rough stretch. It's quite a reversal for Olson, as he had a 1.92 ERA across his first 10 appearances of the season. Fantasy managers will hope he gets back on track in his next scheduled start, which is tentatively set for Monday against a tough Atlanta lineup on the road. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:09 pm
