    • Avoids structural damage to knee
Winker, who is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, said an MRI on his right knee showed no structural damage, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Winker noted, however, that he's still dealing with some stiffness in his right knee, which he injured while running the bases in the first inning of Saturday's 4-0 win before he was pulled in the third inning. The 30-year-old said that he expects to be good to go after a couple of days of rest, and he'll benefit from the Nationals being off Monday before the team begins a three-game set with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. • MRI reveals no structural damage in Winker’s knee
An MRI on Jesse Winker’s right knee revealed know structural damage.

Advice: The clean imaging is great news for Winker, and the expectation is that he’ll be able to return to the lineup after a couple of days of rest. He’s out of action for Sunday’s game against the Marlins, and isn’t likely to be available off the bench. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago

    • Not starting Sunday
Winker (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: Winker required an MRI after exiting Saturday's 4-0 win with a right knee injury, and while the results of his medical tests haven't yet been revealed, he'll be forced to miss out on at least one start. With Winker out of the lineup Sunday, Ildemaro Vargas will pick up a start in left field. Rotowire.com Today, 8:31 am

    • Kyle Gibson placed on bereavement list
Cardinals placed RHP Kyle Gibson on the bereavement list.

Advice: Gibson will be away from the Cardinals for three days while dealing with things more important than sports. Ryan Loutos is up to take his place on the active roster. Rotoworld Today, 8:17 am
    • Goes on bereavement leave
The Cardinals placed Gibson on the bereavement list Sunday.

Advice: Gibson has left the team following a death in the family. Per MLB rules, players placed on the bereavement list have to be deactivated for a minimum of three days and a maximum of seven days, making it unclear if Gibson will be ready to rejoin the team ahead of his next scheduled start. The Cardinals had confirmed Gibson as their starting pitcher for Wednesday's game in Miami, though that announcement was made prior to his placement on the bereavement list. • Returns to third base Saturday
Machado started at third base and went 0-for-4 in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: Machado recently missed four games due to a strained right hip flexor and was limited to DH duties in four straight contests following his return. The veteran was able to resume playing the field Saturday, though he didn't look like he was up to full speed while running out a grounder in the seventh inning. It's unclear how much the hip issue is bothering Machado, as he's batting just .200 (4-for-20) with no runs or RBI and seven strikeouts since returning to the lineup. • Struggles with long ball
Pepiot (4-4) allowed five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four batters over 4.2 innings in a loss to Atlanta on Saturday.

Advice: Pepiot looked to be on his game with four scoreless innings to begin his outing, but things fell apart for him in the fifth. In that frame, the right-hander gave up three home runs -- all with two out -- to account for five Atlanta runs. It marked the first time this season Pepiot has given up three home homers in a game, and the long balls prevented him from finishing five frames for the third time this season. The five runs Pepiot allowed Saturday were the most he's given up in an outing since his season debut against Texas on April 1. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:30 pm
    • Ryan Pepiot undone by HRs against Atlanta
Ryan Pepiot allowed five runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Braves on Saturday.

Advice: Pepiot allowed seven hard-hit baseballs on the day and three home runs which accounted for seven runs. The right-hander did produce a 26 percent whiff rate and 26 percent CSW which helped him strike out four. However, he also walked three in what was an uneven effort overall. His first season in Tampa has not gone as smoothly as hoped. While he has flashed upside, he also has a 4.57 ERA but he has a good chance to turn that around next week against the Pirates. • Swats seventh homer
Happ went 2-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: The 29-year-old outfielder took John King deep in the seventh inning, Happ's first homer in June. The performance snapped a 1-for-24 slump over his prior seven games, and on the season he's slashing .218/.328/.376 over 65 contests with seven homers, five steals, 32 runs and 33 RBI.
