    • Max Fried stellar against Yankees in win
Max Fried shut the Yankees out over six innings in a 3-1 win on Sunday. He struck out four without walking a batter.

Advice: Fried was great in this and kept the Yankees off-balance by mixing all five of his pitches. He didn’t throw one individual offering more than 30% of the time and was adept at varying his four-seam fastball, sinker, and curveball early in counts. He’s as steady and stable as they come. • Goes three scoreless in rehab start
Brubaker (elbow) tossed three scoreless innings and struck out two in his first rehab start Wednesday with Single-A Tampa Bay. He gave up two hits and no walks.

Advice: Making his first appearance in affiliated ball since October 2022 following a prolonged recovery from Tommy John surgery, Brubaker exhibited few signs of rust Wednesday, albeit while matching up against a lineup of lower-level Cardinals prospects. Given that Brubaker handled three innings and 22 pitches in the rehab start, the Yankees are seemingly preparing to build him up as a rotation option once he returns from the 60-day injured list. At the moment, the Yankees don't have an opening in the rotation, and if little changes on that front over the next few weeks, Brubaker will likely be optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after he completes his rehab assignment. • Raisel Iglesias nails down 20th save
Raisel Iglesias struck out two Yankees en route to a save on Sunday. He didn’t allow a base runner.

Advice: Iglesias became the fourth closer this season to cross the 20-save plateau and continues to stifle his opponents despite a strikeout rate hovering around 20%. His role seems safe as ever in the Braves’ bullpen. Rotoworld 3 minutes ago
    • Ben Rice with two hits in loss
Ben Rice went 2-for-3 on Sunday against the Braves.

Advice: Rice has been totally fine in his first week of play with a .294 average and the same number of walks as strikeouts. He’s yet to find his first extra-base hit yet but does not seem over-matched by major league pitching. Rotoworld 4 minutes ago
    • Sidelined through All-Star break
Toro (hamstring) will be out at least through the All-Star break, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Toro landed on the injured list Saturday due to a Grade 1 strain in his right hamstring, and the A's have already determined that his absence will extend into the second half of the season. Tyler Nevin figures to see the majority of reps at third base until Toro returns, though Aledmys Diaz and Armando Alvarez may also pick up a few starts. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago

    • Jarred Kelenic homers in win
Jarred Kelenic went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI on Sunday against the Yankees.

Advice: Kelenic has turned himself into a bit of an engine atop the Braves’ lineup. He has a hit in all eight games he’s led-off and is 11-for-36 overall there. His homer got the Braves’ offense going and a fifth inning sac fly gave them some needed insurance. Most notably, Atlanta felt comfortable with him there against lefty Nestor Cortes. There’s a mild breakout happening here spurned by opportunity. Rotoworld 5 minutes ago
    • Stanton diagnosed with mild hamstring strain
Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone said after Sunday’s game that Giancarlo Stanton was diagnosed with a mild left hamstring strain.

Advice: The 34-year-old slugger is still going to miss at least 10 days while on the injured list, but there’s optimism that he shouldn’t require much longer of an absence than that. In 69 games on the season, Stanton has hit a respectable .246/.302/.492 with 18 homers and 45 RBI. Rotoworld 5 minutes ago

    • Nestor Cortes strikes out seven Braves in loss
Nestor Cortes allowed three earned runs across seven innings Sunday against the Braves. He struck out seven and walked none as a tough-luck loser.

Advice: Cortes was great Sunday, Max Fried was just better. Jarred Kelenic burned him for a short-porch home run early and then the bottom of the Braves’ lineup rallied in the fifth inning. Otherwise, Cortes was dotting his cutter on the edges all afternoon and kept the Braves’ big bats at bay. He’s had a fantastic season thus far with a 3.40 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 100 2/3 innings. • Picks up 11th save
Fairbanks tossed a perfect ninth, striking out one to collect the save Sunday against the Pirates.

Advice: Fairbanks needed only 11 pitches to close the door on his 11th save. Fairbanks had allowed a run to score in three of his previous four appearances, with Sunday marking the first time in seven appearances he did not allow a baserunner. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago
