• Anthony Rizzo delivers walk-off winner on Friday
Anthony Rizzo smacked an RBI single off of Jason Foley in the ninth inning on Friday night, propelling the Yankees to a 2-1 walk-off victory over the Tigers.

Advice: The Yankees had come up empty through eight innings against Reese Olson and a host of Tigers’ relievers. They finally got the bats going in the ninth though, as Aaron Judge singled, Alex Verdugo dropped down a bunt single and Giancarlo Stanton smacked an RBI double to start the inning. Rizzo then followed by poking a ball through the drawn in infield to walk it off. The 34-year-old slugger finished the night 1-for-3 plus a walk and is now hitting .256/.324/.403 with five homers and 17 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Today, 7:13 pm

  • Hunter Renfroe swats homer as KC beats Texas
Hunter Renfroe homered and walked in a rout of the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Renfroe got the Royals on the board with a solo shot in the fifth off an otherwise-excellent Michael Lorenzen. The outfielder has gone deep three times in his first season with Kansas City, but the .155/.228/.298 line tells the story of how ineffective he’s been in the first month-plus. • Salvador Perez hits three-run homer in victory
Salvador Perez hit a three-run homer in the Royals’ 7-1 victory over the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Perez broke the game open with his three-run homer, as it came with the Royals leading 4-1 in an inning where Kansas City put up a six-spot. The 33-year-old catcher has already gone deep eight times in 2024, and the three runs driven in bump that total to 30. The suggestion that Perez was done being a strong fantasy option behind the plate may have been greatly exaggerated. Rotoworld Today, 7:11 pm

  • Headed to San Diego
The Marlins traded Arraez to the Padres on Friday in exchange for Dillon Head, Woo-suk Go, Nathan Martorella and Jakob Marsee, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.

Advice: It's not immediately clear how Arraez will fit into the Padres' lineup, as San Diego already has a strong infield unit that includes Jake Cronenworth, Xander Bogaerts, Ha-Seong Kim and Manny Machado, but it's possible Arraez fills in as the Friars' primary designated hitter. The 27-year-old is slashing .299/.347/.372 across 148 plate appearances so far this season, and his departure from Miami leaves Vidal Brujan as the favorite to take over as the Marlins' main second baseman. • Padres closing in on deal to acquire Luis Arraez
Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Padres are finalizing a deal to acquire second baseman Luis Arraez from the Marlins.

Advice: Passan notes that the Marlins will receive a package of three prospects and a relief pitcher in return for the two-time defending batting champion. The Padres already have a strong combo up the middle with Ha-Seong Kim and Xander Bogaerts, so its likely that the plan is to play Arraez at either first base or third base. Stay tuned, as Passan notes that the deal is in medical review and expected to be finalized soon. Rotoworld Today, 6:35 pm

  • Resting against lefty
Brown isn't in the Athletics' lineup Friday against the Marlins.

Advice: Left-hander Ryan Weathers will take the mound Friday for Miami, meaning the left-handed bat of Brown will stay put in Oakland's dugout. Max Schuemann will fill the opening in left field and bat seventh. Rotowire.com Today, 4:24 pm

  • Returns from IL
The Athletics reinstated Davis (thigh) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Advice: The 31-year-old went 3-for-15 during a four-game rehab sitnt with Triple-A Las Vegas and is back in the lineup Friday for Oakland, as he's starting at first base and batting fifth. Davis posted a .196/.255/.373 slash line in 14 games prior to suffering the adductor strain. Rotowire.com Today, 2:21 pm

  • Joey Gallo (shoulder) ready for rehab assignment
Joey Gallo (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Single-A Fredericksburg on Saturday.

Advice: The free-swinging 30-year-old slugger has been sidelined since late April due to an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder. He should only need a couple of game’s worth of at-bats before he’s cleared to return to the Nationals’ lineup. Whether or not that will help, is another question. Gallo was hitting just .122/.286/.311 with three homers, five RBI, one swipe and a 43/15 K/BB ratio over 91 plate appearances before landing on the injured list. Rotoworld Today, 2:20 pm

  • Athletics activate J.D. Davis from 10-day IL
Athletics activated INF J.D. Davis from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The 31-year-old slugger has been shelved since the middle of April due to a right groin strain. He’ll return to a .196/.255/.373 slash line to go along with two homers, two RBI and a 16/3 K/BB ratio over 55 plate appearances through his first 14 ballgames. Rotoworld Today, 2:11 pm
