    • Returns to Tampa Bay lineup
Arozarena (hamstring) will start in left field and bat second in Thursday's game versus the Cubs.

Advice: Arozarena missed the previous two contests with right hamstring tightness but is feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. The 29-year-old will bring a disappointing .599 OPS into play Thursday. Rotowire.com Thursday, 12:19 pm
    • Nearly ready to take swings
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Thursday that Nootbaar (oblique) continues to take part in "rotational work" and could resume swinging a bat this weekend, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Cardinals will presumably ease Nootbaar into swinging by having him hit off a tee or hit soft-toss throws before he eventually gains clearance to hit against higher-velocity pitching. In addition to being able to hit without discomfort, Nootbaar, who has been on the injured list since May 31 with a left oblique strain, will also need to prove that the injury doesn't compromise him when he runs the bases or plays the outfield. He still appears to be at least a couple weeks away from being a realistic option to rejoin the Cardinals, and Nootbaar will presumably need to go out on a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated. • Twins option slumping Kirilloff to Triple-A
Twins optioned 1B Alex Kirilloff to Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: Kirilloff got off to a strong start in April, but he faded quickly and was hitting .135/.207/.284 in his last 30 games. Edouard Julien has remained ice cold in Triple-A, so he’s unlikely to be the countermove here. That probably leaves Matt Wallner or Austin Martin. Wallner has turned things around lately, but Martin has the better Triple-A numbers and has more to offer defensively. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:37 am

    • Belts first homer
Davis went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Wednesday in a 4-2 loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Davis gave Pittsburgh its second run of the contest with a solo shot to center field in the eighth inning. The long ball was his first in what has been a very disappointing season, as he's slashing a meager .157/.273/.241 through 99 plate appearances. With Joey Bart (thumb) on the injured list, Davis has been splitting time behind the plate with veteran Yasmani Grandal. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:09 pm

    • Homers off bench Wednesday
Robert hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Robert was able to extend the contest with his game-tying blast in the ninth inning. The outfielder has four homers over eight games since he returned from a hip injury, but he's added just one other hit while posting a 3:13 BB:K in that span. He's up to six homers on the year with a .196/.250/.554 slash line through 60 plate appearances. Robert is still seeing steady rest given his lengthy injury history, though his power is a welcome addition to a fairly punchless lineup -- he already has the fourth most homers among White Sox batters this year. • Luis Robert Jr. slugs game-tying homer off the bench
Luis Robert Jr. went 1-for-1 with a solo homer against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Robert Jr. was on the bench for this one and entered the game as a pinch-hitter to lead off the top of the ninth. With the White Sox trailing by one run, he took Mike Baumann deep to tie things up. The 26-year-old outfielder is slashing .196/.250/.554 with six homers, nine RBI, and one steal across 60 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:22 pm

    • Henry Davis hits first homer versus Cardinals
Henry Davis hit his first homer of the season Wednesday off the Cardinals’ Andrew Kittredge.

Advice: It was his lone hit tonight and second in 15 at-bats since he was recalled from Triple-A last week. He’s now up to 100 plate appearances for the season and has 13 hits, five RBI and 38 strikeouts. Odds are that he’ll return to Triple-A once Joey Bart comes off the IL. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:20 pm

    • Dispatched to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Kirilloff to Triple-A St. Paul after Wednesday's 17-9 win over the Rockies, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kirilloff will head to Triple-A in order to get back on track after going 2-for-21 with nine strikeouts since the beginning of June, bringing his season slash line down to .201/.270/.384 through 178 plate appearances. The Twins have not yet announced a corresponding move for Kirilloff's demotion, but his absence will likely result in more time in left field for Trevor Larnach and more time at first base for Carlos Santana. • Sitting Wednesday
Ward (back) isn't in the Angels' lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Diamondbacks, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Lower-back tightness caused Ward to make an early exit from Tuesday's loss, though the Angels labeled his removal as precautionary. He'll remain sidelined Wednesday while Kevin Pillar starts in left field, batting third. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:32 pm
