    • Bobby Witt Jr. goes 3-for-3, hits 17th homer
Bobby Witt Jr. finished 3-for-3 with a homer, two RBI and a walk versus the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Witt hit just one homer in his final 24 games in June, but this gives him five in 12 games in July. It’s a bummer that his stolen base pace has slowed — he has just one steal in a month — but 30/30 remains possible with him sitting at 17 homers and 22 steals through 98 games. • Secures save Friday
Hader struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-0 win over the Mariners.

Advice: Hader got through the middle of the Mariners' order on a tidy 11 pitches (seven strikes) to earn his 19th save of the campaign. This was his fourth straight scoreless outing, an improvement on a stretch in which he allowed a run in four of six appearances from June 25 to July 7. The closer is at a 3.77 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 68:12 K:BB through 43 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:39 pm
    • Gerrit Cole strikes out eight in victory over Rays
Gerrit Cole turned in six innings of one-run ball and struck out eight in defeating the Rays on Friday.

Advice: It’s a match for his last start against the Orioles. Cole gave up just three hard-hit balls tonight, and the one homer he allowed would have been out of only 12 of the 30 ballparks, according to Statcast. He’s now 3-1 with a 4.60 ERA, and things are definitely looking up a few weeks ago. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:20 pm
    • Diaz plates two as Astros top Mariners
Yainer Diaz drove in a pair in a victory over the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Diaz gave the Astros a 3-0 lead with a two-run single off Luis Castillo in the third inning. The backstop has driven in 51 runs while hitting 284 with a .719 OPS on the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:46 pm
    • Josh Hader gets save vs. Mariners on Friday
Josh Hader picked up a save with a scoreless inning against the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Hader struck out Mitch Garver and didn’t allow a hit while procuring his 19th save of the campaign. The left-hander has blown just one save on the season even while posting a relatively-high 3.77 ERA. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:32 pm
    • Notches final out for 26th save
Finnegan earned the save in Friday's 8-5 win over the Reds, allowing one walk before recording the final out.

Advice: It didn't appear that Finnegan would be needed Friday, as the Nationals carried an 8-1 lead into the ninth. However, Jose Ferrer and Derek Law would combine to allow four runs in the frame, forcing the Nats to turn to Finnegan with two outs. The right-hander would issue a walk before ultimately getting Elly De La Cruz to ground out to seal an 8-5 win. The 32-year-old Finnegan has been excellent for Washington this year -- he's up to 26 saves, third-most in the league, with a 2.43 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 42:14 K:BB across 40.2 innings. • Secures third win
Cole (3-1) earned the win Friday against Tampa Bay, allowing one run on six hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: The New York ace was in fine form, generating an impressive 16 whiffs en route to his eight punchouts, his third straight game with at least seven Ks. The lone blemish on his evening was 384-foot solo shot allowed to Brandon Lowe in the sixth. With this 103-pitch effort, Cole lowered his season ERA to 4.60 from 5.40. The 33-year-old is tentatively slated to make his next start against the Mets at home. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:26 pm
    • Kyle Finnegan locks down 26th save
Kyle Finnegan got one out and earned the save on Friday against the Reds.

Advice: Finnegan probably thought he had the night off as his Nationals led 8-1 entering the ninth inning. However, the Reds cut the lead to three and forced Finnegan to face Elly De La Cruz as the tying run. He got him as the Nationals breathed a collective sigh of relief. Hopefully Finnegan’s run as a closer doesn’t come to an end with the trade deadline closing in. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:49 pm

    • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. blasts two-run homer in loss
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. crushed a two-run homer on Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Blue Jays to victory over the Tigers.

Advice: The 25-year-old slugger got the Jays’ on the board and pulled them to within a run after he demolished a 445-foot (117.5 mph EV) two-run shot after a nine-pitch battle with Jack Flaherty in the sixth inning. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night as his squad’s comeback effort fell one run short. On the season, Guerrero is now hitting .288/.358/.461 with 15 homers and 57 RBI.
