    • Michael Wacha turns in quality start in victory
Michael Wacha picked up a win Thursday after allowing three runs — two earned — in six innings against the Angels.

Advice: Wacha boasted some of his best velocity of the season tonight, helping him achieve the quality start in spite of five walks surrendered. He improved to 2-4 with a 5.15 ERA ahead of his next start on the road against the Mariners. Rotoworld Today, 9:45 pm
    • Anthony Volpe crushes two-run homer in loss
Anthony Volpe went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Thursday in the Yankees’ loss to the Astros.

Advice: Volpe connected for a two-run opposite-field shot into the right-field corner off Astros starter Ronel Blanco in the third inning. It was his fifth round-tripper of the season and second time he’s left the yard in his last three contests. The 23-year-old shortstop has made an effort to flatten his swing and employ an all-fields approach this season, but is still hitting for some over-the-fence pop, while also significantly improving his batting average. • Struggles with command vs. Arizona
Greene did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Diamondbacks, allowing three runs on four hits and five walks over five innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Greene's final line ultimately could've looked a lot worse after he issued a season-high five walks. The 24-year-old Greene has given up nine free passes over his last two starts (10.2 innings), though he's managed to hold opponents to just three runs in that span. Overall, he's 1-2 on the season with a 1.24 WHIP and 53:21 K:BB through eight starts (45.1 innings). Greene's currently slated for a rematch with the Diamondbacks on the road in his next outing. • Out 10 weeks following arm surgery
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Thursday that Contreras is likely to be sidelined for about 10 weeks after successful surgery Wednesday to repair a fractured left forearm, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Contreras had offered a 6-to-8 week timetable himself earlier this week, but indications are that it will probably be a bit longer than that. It puts the catcher out likely until right around the All-Star break. Ivan Herrera will operate as the Cardinals' primary catcher while Contreras is sidelined, with Pedro Pages backing him up. • Willson Contreras likely out until All-Star break
Willson Contreras underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to repair a fractured left forearm.

Advice: Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol told reporters Contreras is likely to miss upwards of 10 weeks, rather than the 6-8 week timetable the veteran backstop provided earlier this week. The 31-year-old figures to be on the shelf until sometime right around the All-Star break in mid-July. Rotoworld Today, 1:42 pm

    • Hunter Greene strikes out six, walks five in loss
Hunter Greene surrendered three runs in five innings with six strikeouts in a no-decision Thursday versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Greene allowed four hits, but he also issued five walks with 40-of-84 pitches landing outside of the strike zone. The right-hander had his swing-and-miss stuff, and he was able to work around those free passes with a scoreless second-through-fifth inning. The free passes hurt the WHIP, but this start coulda been a lot worse. Greene gets a rematch with Arizona next week. Rotoworld Today, 1:28 pm

    • Sitting out with sore foot
Giants manager Bob Melvin said Lee is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Colorado due to a sore foot which is the result of a foul ball off his leg in Wednesday's contest, Manny Randhawa of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Lee is receiving treatment and will be reevaluated Friday to see if he's ready to play then. Consider him day-to-day for the time being. Austin Slater is occupying center field in Lee's stead Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 11:04 am

    • Jung Hoo Lee out of Thursday’s lineup
Jung Hoo Lee is not in the starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Rockies due to a sore foot.

Advice: Lee was hit in the foot after he fouled off a ball on Wednesday, so the 25-year-old will take the day off to get right. The rookie outfielder is slashing .262/.310/.331 with two homers and eight RBI across 145 plate appearances this season. Rotoworld Today, 10:59 am

    • Resting Thursday
Lee is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Lee will exit the starting nine for the first time since April 24 while Austin Slater fills in for him in center field. Unless he's summoned from the bench Thursday, Lee will put his six-game hitting streak on hold before returning to action Friday versus the Reds. Rotowire.com Today, 9:37 am
