    • Kodai Senga (shoulder) set to face hitters Sunday
Kodai Senga (shoulder) will progress to facing hitters on Sunday in a live batting practice session.

Advice: It’ll be the first time Senga faces hitters since experiencing a setback in his rehabilitation process back in late May. The 31-year-old righty is still weeks away from a potential return to New York’s starting rotation and isn’t going to make his season debut until sometime after next month’s All-Star break. • Cristopher Sánchez signs four-year extension
Phillies signed LHP Cristopher Sánchez to a four-year contract extension with club options for 2029 and 2030.

Advice: The long-term extension, which was first reported earlier on Saturday by the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, is now official. The deal essentially buys out Sanchez’s remaining arbitration-eligible seasons with club options for his first two free agent years. No word yet on the exact financial terms. It wasn’t looking good for Philadelphia a couple years ago when Curtis Mead blossomed into one of the most promising prospects in baseball after being shipped to Tampa Bay for Sánchez. However, the pendulum has swung back the other way with Mead struggling in the majors and Sánchez turning into a reliable mid-rotation stabilizer. This extension feels like a solid decision that works for both parties. Rotoworld Saturday, 9:02 am
    • Inks four-year extension
Sanchez signed a four-year contract extension with the Phillies on Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Sanchez has been a key part of Philadelphia's rotation this season, posting a 2.91 ERA and 1.36 WHIP alongside a 66:24 K:BB through 77.1 innings across 14 starts. The left-hander was already under team control through the 2028 campaign, but his extension will buy out his arbitration years and reportedly includes options for 2029 and 2030 that could allow the Phillies to keep him around longer. • Report: Cristopher Sánchez gets four-year extension
The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports the Phillies and left-hander Cristopher Sánchez are finalizing a four-year contract extension.

Advice: No financial terms yet with Heyman adding that the long-term agreement buys out Sánchez’s remaining arbitration-eligible years. The 27-year-old southpaw, who boasts a strong 2.91 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 66/24 K/BB ratio across 77 1/3 innings (14 starts) this season, wasn’t arbitration-eligible until 2026. • Strikes out eight in win
Flaherty (5-4) earned the win against the White Sox on Friday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Flaherty threw four scoreless innings before surrendering a solo home run to Tommy Pham in the fifth. He then allowed a hit and a walk with two outs in the sixth before being pulled just shy of a quality start at 98 pitches. The home run was the first earned run Flaherty has allowed since May 23, and the pitch count was encouraging considering he was limited to 73 pitches in his last outing following a back injury. On the season, he owns a 2.92 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 108:13 K:BB over 83.1 innings and tentatively lines up to face the Phillies next week. Rotowire.com Friday, 6:30 pm

    • Jack Flaherty strikes out eight in win on Friday
Jack Flaherty delivered an excellent performance in Friday night’s victory over the White Sox, racking up eight strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings of one-run baseball.

Advice: The right-hander scattered five hits on the night while issuing a pair of free passes. The lone tally against him came on a solo homer off the bat of Tommy Pham in the fifth inning. Aside from that though, he was in complete control. Flaherty got 14 swings and misses on 98 pitches in the ballgame — seven of those on his slider — while posting a strong CSW of 34 percent. Now 5-4 on the season, the increasingly popular trade candidate will carry a sublime 2.92 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 108/13 K/BB ratio (83 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s battle against the Phillies. • Zac Gallen to throw another sim game on Monday
Zac Gallen (hamstring) is expected to throw around 70 pitches in another simulated game on Monday.

Advice: Assuming all goes well with that session, the expectation is that he’ll rejoin the Diamondbacks’ rotation next weekend against the Athletics. The 28-year-old hurler had posted a 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 60/15 K/BB ratio over 57 2/3 innings through his first 11 starts. Rotoworld Friday, 3:03 pm

    • Zac Gallen (hamstring) to throw sim game next week
Zac Gallen (hamstring) is scheduled to throw another simulated game early next week.

Advice: The hope here is that Gallen will be ready to be activated, without requiring a minor league rehab assignment, after next week’s simulated game. The 28-year-old righty has been on the shelf since late May after suffering a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. Rotoworld Thursday, 5:46 pm

    • Kodai Senga (shoulder) close to facing hitters
Kodai Senga (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: Senga could progress to facing hitters in a live batting practice session at some point over the weekend, depending on how he comes out of his latest throwing session. The 31-year-old righty remains without a definitive return timeline at the moment, but he’s going to require several weeks of rehab starts once he gets to that point in his ramp-up process.
