    Shane Baz (elbow) allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings on Thursday for Triple-A Durham.

    Advice: Baz struck out three and only issued a pair of walks. He generated only five swinging strikes, but was able to locate the strike zone effectively, throwing a whopping 49 of 69 pitches for strikes. It was a much-needed improvement after handing out five free passes his last time out. The 24-year-old former top pitching prospect remains without a definitive timetable to return to Tampa Bay’s starting rotation as he continues to build up his pitch count and stamina in the minors.     Seiya Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a home run, double, and two runs scored in a win over the Braves on Wednesday.

    Advice: The home run was Suzuki’s first since coming off the IL with an oblique strain. The injury came at an inopportune time with Suzuki slashing .305/.368/.525 with a 151 wRC+ before getting hurt.     Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and another run scored in Wednesday's 7-1 win over Atlanta.

    Advice: Suzuki is batting just .217 in five games since returning from an oblique injury, though he has a strong .280 average and .825 OPS on the season. Those numbers are in line with the .285 average and .842 OPS the outfielder posted last year, when he also delivered a career-high 20 home runs.     The Athletics optioned Bido (finger) to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

    Advice: Bido served as the Athletics' 27th man in last Wednesday's doubleheader with the Rangers. He started the second game of the twin bill and was dealt the loss after giving up four earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four across 2.2 innings in a 12-11 Rangers victory. Bido dealt with a blister on the middle finger of his throwing hand, so it's unclear if he'll be ready to start when his next turn through Las Vegas' rotation comes up.
