      Cole (elbow) will make a rehab start with Double-A Somerset on Sunday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Cole made his first rehab appearance Tuesday with Somerset, firing 3.1 scoreless innings with five strikeouts. He threw 45 pitches and touched 97 miles per hour, which is in line with his normal velocity.       Evan Phillips was charged with three runs in the eighth inning on Thursday in a non-save situation against the Pirates.

      Advice: Phillips got the call for his first appearance in nearly a week with the Dodgers leading by seven runs at the time and wound up surrendering four hits, including a three-run homer to Oneil Cruz. Fortunately, his struggles didn’t end up impacting the final result of the contest, but it certainly doesn’t do fantasy managers any favors in the ratio departments.     • Rocked by Pirates
      Paxton (5-1) took the loss Wednesday, allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits and two walks across 1.2 innings against Pittsburgh. He struck out two.

      Advice: Paxton retired the side in the first inning but endured a nightmare second frame. He gave up a walk, three singles and a double to the first five batters he faced as part of a seven-run inning by the Pirates that Paxton didn't finish. The veteran lefty has been shaky over his last four starts, surrendering 15 runs over 15.1 innings while allowing multiple homers in two of those outings and Wednesday's start ballooned Paxton's ERA from 3.29 to 4.19.       James Paxton was lit up for seven runs — six earned — in 1 2/3 innings by the Pirates on Wednesday.

      Advice: It went as Paxton’s first loss after five wins to begin the season, but the left-hander simply hasn’t thrown very well for weeks now.       Advice: The 26-year-old didn't miss a beat after being named the American League Rookie and Pitcher of the Month for May. Gil extended his quality-start streak to seven with the performance, and he's won all seven of those outings with an eye-popping 0.60 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 50:15 K:BB through 44.2 innings. The veteran hurler surrendered a single to the first batter he faced but yielded just one more hit over the remainder of his outing. The beginning of Cole's rehab stint couldn't have gone much better, but he's still expected to need at least a couple more appearances in the minors before he's ready to join the Yankees rotation. He’s emerged as an early AL Cy Young Award contender this season, allowing one earned run or fewer in seven consecutive starts since May 1. The 26-year-old righty won’t be able to sustain these sublime results long-term, but he’s rapidly evolved into a legitimate upper-echelon fantasy contributor, thanks to his ability to consistently miss bats and avoid hard contact.
