    • Throwing off mound
Eovaldi (groin) will throw a bullpen session Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Friday will mark the first time Eovaldi has thrown off a mound since being diagnosed with a right groin strain May 3. He's eligible to return from the IL on Saturday, but considering the right-hander is just now resuming mound work, he may still be a week or two from returning to Texas' rotation. A clearer timeline for his return may emerge once he progresses to facing live hitters. Rotowire.com Today, 2:26 pm

    • Down in five spot Friday
Machado will start at third base and bat fifth in Friday's game in Atlanta.

Advice: It's only the second time over the past nine seasons that Machado has batted lower than cleanup. The 31-year-old is in the middle of a 2-for-30 stretch at the plate to drop his season batting line to .222/.276/.346. Rotowire.com Today, 1:10 pm
    • Grabbing seat Friday
Suzuki is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Pirates.

Advice: Suzuki homered Wednesday in Atlanta but is just 6-for-26 at the dish since returning from the injured list. With Paul Skenes on the hill for the Pirates on Friday, a day off for Suzuki makes sense. Cody Bellinger will shift over to right field while Pete Crow-Armstrong handles center and Mike Tauchman serves as the designated hitter. Rotowire.com Today, 8:37 am

    • Suzuki gets day off Friday
Seiya Suzuki is not in the Cubs lineup for Friday’s game against the Pirates.

Advice: Suzuki started and batted second against the Pirates on Thursday. Pete Crow-Armstrong will get to start in center with Cody Bellinger shifting to right field. Suzuki is hitting .282 with an .826 OPS this season. Rotoworld Today, 8:30 am

    • Swipes eighth bag
Marte went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's extra-innings win over the Phillies.

Advice: It's the fourth multi-hit performance for Marte in May, but he has just four total hits in his other 10 contests on the month. The veteran outfielder is a perfect 8-for-8 on the season in steal attempts though, keeping his fantasy value afloat despite a lackluster .259/.305/.370 slash line that comes with four homers, 15 RBI and 21 runs in 35 games. • Surrenders two runs
Jansen (1-1) took the loss Thursday against Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk with two strikeouts over one inning.

Advice: Jansen took over in the top of the ninth with the game tied but fell to his first loss of the campaign. After striking out Josh Lowe to start off the inning, Jansen yielded a walk, two singles and a sacrifice fly to consecutive batters as the Rays took a 7-5 advantage and the eventual win. The outing raised the 36-year-old's ERA from 2.45 to 3.45. In 15.2 innings of work, Jansen owns a 21:10 K:BB and has yet to allow a home run. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:44 pm
    • Homers in Wednesday's loss
Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 7-2 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Goldschmidt is on a five-game hitting streak, having gone 7-for-23 (.304) with two homers and four RBI in that span. The burst of offense has doubled his homer total for the year to four, and he's up to 15 RBI, 20 runs scored, two stolen bases and three doubles while slashing .206/.291/.300 across 41 contests. Goldschmidt sat out a game just prior to his current streak, so it appears the mental reset is paying off in the short term, though his counting stats are unlikely to improve much if the team around him doesn't collectively start hitting better. • Paul Goldschmidt slugs fourth homer Wednesday
Paul Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and a walk against the Angels on Wednesday.

Advice: After drawing a walk in the fourth, Goldschmidt ended the shutout in the sixth inning, putting the Cardinals on the board with a solo homer off Griffin Canning. The 36-year-old first baseman is slashing .206/.291/.300 with four homers, 20 runs scored, 15 RBI, and two steals across 181 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:22 pm

    • Gets no help in loss
Lopez (4-3) allowed three runs on 10 hits while striking out three over 6.1 innings, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Yankees. He did not walk a batter.

Advice: The 10 hits allowed were a season high for Lopez, who also received no run support in a 4-0 loss. He gave up a run in each of the first three innings before settling in to keep things relatively close. The Twins' ace is at a 3.93 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 58:8 K:BB through 50.1 innings over nine starts this season. Lopez is lined up for a more favorable road matchup versus the Nationals his next time out.
