Bregman went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Bregman provided the Astros' lone run support with a two-run blast to left in the fourth off Luis Castillo. It was his first home run since May 14 and just his third extra-base hit since then. Despite multi-hit efforts in two of his last three games, Bregman is still hitting just .147 over his last eight games. His struggles have persisted throughout the season thus far, with the 30-year-old now slashing .212/.277/.335 with five homers, 23 RBI, 15 runs and a 19:30 BB:K in 224 plate appearances. • Alex Bregman homers from fifth spot in lineup
Alex Bregman went 2-for-4 and hit a homer that accounted for both Astros runs Tuesday in the loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Bregman had the nice game after switching places with Jeremy Peña and being dropped to the fifth spot in the lineup. Perhaps it means he’ll resume batting cleanup Wednesday, but the Astros truly have bigger concerns at the moment. Rotoworld Tuesday, 11:00 pm

    • Working way out of slump
Bregman went 2-for-4 with a walk Sunday against the Athletics.

Advice: Bregman has slumped for significant periods of the season and Sunday's performance was his first multi-hit game in his last eight starts. He's been unlucky to the tune of a .217 BABIP across 216 plate appearances on the campaign, though Bregman's struggles to make consistent quality contact make him susceptible to these results. • Homers twice, walks off Jays
Vierling hit a walk-off home run in Sunday's 14-11 victory over Toronto, finishing 4-for-6 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored.

Advice: Vierling was the hero Sunday, putting an exclamation point on his career day with a three-run shot off Jordan Romano in the bottom of the ninth. The 27-year-old has earned a near everyday role for Detroit as a utility man, playing in 13 of Detroit's previous 15 contests, batting .214 with six RBI and two runs scored over that stretch. Vierling hit his first home run since May 1 and is now up to five longballs on the season to go with 23 RBI, 19 runs scored with a .278 average. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:23 pm

    • Matt Vierling launches walkoff homer for Tigers
Matt Vierling went 4-for-6 with two homers, including a game-winning three-run shot in the bottom of the ninth, as the Tigers topped the Blue Jays 14-11 in a wild one Sunday.

Advice: The Tigers led 5-0 after three and 8-3 after five, only to fall behind 11-9 in the top of the eighth. Still, they obviously weren’t done on a day in which seven homers were hit. Mark Canha tied the game with a single in the bottom of the eighth, and Vierling homered off Jordan Romano after Kerry Carpenter was intentionally walked in the ninth. Vierling previously homered in the sixth inning, and he now has five homers to go along with a .278/.311/.464 line on the season. Vierling has been doing some sitting against righties since Gio Urshela returned, but he deserves something close to a full-time role right now. He’s actually hitting righties a little better than lefties (.789 OPS to .750). Rotoworld Sunday, 12:27 pm

    • Alex Bregman goes 0-for-4 against Angels
Alex Bregman went 0-for-4 as the Astros’ cleanup hitter Wednesday to finish hitless in the series against the Angels.

Advice: Bregman had three homers in two games against the A’s early last week, prompting the Astros to return him to the cleanup spot, but since then, he’s 4-for-31 with one RBI in eight games. It’s hard to imagine Bregman remaining this bad, but he’s long posted subpar BABIPs and his typically average exit velocity numbers are worse than usual right now. The rebound might not be as strong as most would hope. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:22 pm

    • Collects three hits
Paredes went 3-for-5 with a two-run double during Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Paredes plated Josh Lowe and Randy Arozarena on a first-inning double to give the Rays an early lead. However, Tampa Bay wouldn't score again in the game, going 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position outside of Paredes' double. The third baseman has generated multiple hits in five of his last 10 games and leads the Rays in home runs (nine) and RBI (28) on the year. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:48 pm
