    • Nabs steal Friday
Rafaela went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Rafaela is up to 12 steals on the year, though he has just two over his last 21 contests. In that span, he's batting a modest .234 (18-for-77) while adding only one walk, so it's not like he's had a lot of opportunities to run. The shortstop is at a .247/.273/.419 slash line with 11 home runs, 52 RBI, 45 runs scored, 16 doubles and four triples across 94 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:12 pm
    • Provides lone run in loss
Duran went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Fresh off an MVP performance at the All-Star Game, Duran got off to a hot start in the second half. His fifth-inning homer was the Red Sox's lone run of the contest and his first long-ball in regular play since July 2. The outfielder is up to a .286/.344/.488 slash line with 11 homers, 42 RBI, 63 runs scored, 22 stolen bases, 11 doubles and a major-league-leading 10 triples through 96 games. • Throws six shutout innings
Brown (8-6) allowed four hits and three walks while striking out five over six shutout innings to earn the win over the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Brown walked multiple batters for the fourth time in five starts, but his only loss in that span is the one time he walked just one. He's kept opponents off the board in five of his last eight outings and has record a quality start in 10 of his last 11 games. Brown's walk rate is about the only issue for him at this point in the year -- he has a 3.5 BB/9 overall, though it's down to 2.7 since May 22. The 25-year-old has added a 4.14 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 110:41 K:BB through 104.1 innings across 20 appearances (19 starts). Brown is projected to face the Athletics in a road start next week. • Jarren Duran hits solo homer against Dodgers
Jarren Duran swatted a solo homer in a loss to the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Fresh off winning the All-Star game MVP, Duran gave Boston a 1-0 lead with a solo homer off Gavin Stone. It looked like that would be the game-winner, but the Boston bullpen wasn’t able to hold the lead while allowing a grand slam to Freddie Freeman. Duran also doubled to see his slash improve to 286/.344/.488 with 11 homers and 42 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:50 pm
    • Hunter Brown blanks M’s with six scoreless in win
Hunter Brown blanked the Mariners over six innings to get a win Friday in the Astros’ 3-0 win.

Advice: Brown was one of the best options in baseball over the final two months before the break, and that good run continued Friday. He did issue three walks, but he worked around those bases on balls with five strikeouts and wiggled out of the few jams he created. Brown’s ERA is now 4.14; a much more impressive number when you consider it was 7.71 on May 17. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:30 pm
    • Notches final out for 26th save
Finnegan earned the save in Friday's 8-5 win over the Reds, allowing one walk before recording the final out.

Advice: It didn't appear that Finnegan would be needed Friday, as the Nationals carried an 8-1 lead into the ninth. However, Jose Ferrer and Derek Law would combine to allow four runs in the frame, forcing the Nats to turn to Finnegan with two outs. The right-hander would issue a walk before ultimately getting Elly De La Cruz to ground out to seal an 8-5 win. The 32-year-old Finnegan has been excellent for Washington this year -- he's up to 26 saves, third-most in the league, with a 2.43 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 42:14 K:BB across 40.2 innings. • Kyle Finnegan locks down 26th save
Kyle Finnegan got one out and earned the save on Friday against the Reds.

Advice: Finnegan probably thought he had the night off as his Nationals led 8-1 entering the ninth inning. However, the Reds cut the lead to three and forced Finnegan to face Elly De La Cruz as the tying run. He got him as the Nationals breathed a collective sigh of relief. Hopefully Finnegan’s run as a closer doesn’t come to an end with the trade deadline closing in. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:49 pm

    • STL-ATL postponed
Gray and the Cardinals won't face Atlanta on Friday, as the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Advice: Friday's contest will be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday, and Gray will get the nod to start the nightcap, per John Denton of MLB.com. The 34-year-old righty owns a 3.34 ERA and 1.05 WHIP through 99.2 innings on the season, though he has given up 11 earned runs over 16.1 innings across his last three starts. • Set for rehab start Saturday
Springs (elbow) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Durham on Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: In his last rehab outing July 14, Springs gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits and one walk while striking out three across 4.2 innings. While it was his most runs allowed across his rehab program, he was able to toss 77 pitches (51 strikes), and he appears to be nearing the end of his recovery from Tommy John surgery from April of 2023. After converting to a full-time starter for the Rays in May of 2022, Springs posted a 9-5 record over 25 starts with a 2.46 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 144:31 K:BB across 135.1 frames.
