    • Brayan Bello whiffs seven in victory over Marlins
Brayan Bello recorded seven strikeouts and surrendered one run over 6 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a win over the Marlins.

Advice: Bello served up a run-scoring single to Jesús Sánchez in the opening frame, but managed to settle in shortly afterwards, keeping Miami off the scoreboard until the late innings of this one before turning things over to Boston’s bullpen with two outs in the seventh inning. It was a much-needed rebound performance for the 25-year-old righty after getting knocked around for seven runs over 2 1/3 innings his last time out against the Blue Jays. He’ll bring a pedestrian 5.19 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 71/30 K/BB ratio across 78 innings (15 starts) into an extremely favorable home matchup on Tuesday in his penultimate outing prior to the All-Star break. • Trevor Rogers lasts only three frames vs. Red Sox
Trevor Rogers struck out six and was charged with two runs over three innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Rogers struggled to throw strikes, and certainly wasn’t long for this one, as he got a quick hook after needing a whopping 84 pitches (52 strikes) to complete three frames. He somehow managed to avoid serious damage, despite plenty of action on the basepaths as he surrendered five hits and also issued three walks over three frames. The 26-year-old lefty has been a non-factor this season for fantasy managers with a bloated 4.91 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 70/39 K/BB ratio across 84 1/3 innings (17 starts). He’ll square off against the Astros on Tuesday in his penultimate first-half outing. Rotoworld Today, 6:39 pm

    • Perfect for 18th save
Diaz picked up the save Tuesday against the Yankees, striking out one across a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Diaz only needed nine pitches to retire Trent Grisham, Austin Wells and Anthony Volpe in order Tuesday. Diaz has fired five consecutive scoreless innings and is up to 18 saves on the season, which is tied for eighth most in baseball. Despite the strong save total, Diaz owns a 4.60 ERA across 31.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:50 pm
    • Alexis Díaz earns a save in win over Yankees
Alexis Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn a save in a 5-4 win over the Yankees on Tuesday.

Advice: Díaz has now converted 11 straight save chances and has pitched to a 1.98 ERA in 14 2/3 innings over that stretch. However, some of the early command issues remain as Díaz has a 13.2 percent walk rate over that same span. He may remain volatile given his subpar command and he doesn’t miss as many bats as your typical closer, but he remains locked into the closer’s role on a solid team and will continue to rack up saves. • Blake: Rodón working to adjust gameplan
Yankees pitching coach Matt Blake said Carlos Rodón is working to adjust his approach as team’s key on hitting his fastball.

Advice: Speaking to The Athletic, Matt Blake said he doesn’t have long-term concerns with Rodón despite the left-hander allowing 20 earned runs and a 1.253 OPS in his last three outings. “I think it’s being ready to adapt your plan early because it’s clear that teams that can hit the fastball are targeting him early,” Blake said. “There are more guys like him who throw the ball hard with good profiles and... there’s just less room for error with that stuff. Even if that’s how you got paid, that’s not necessarily your map for success down the road. The more we can adjust and adapt to the league and the sooner we can do that, the easier it is...You’re not asking him to be crafty, but you’ve got to have a better rhythm than that.” Rotoworld Monday, 8:25 am

    • Builds up to three innings
Springs (elbow) allowed three runs on five hits and struck out five across three innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Durham Friday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The surface results weren't impressive for Springs, though all of his runs were surrendered on a home run. He also drew 12 whiffs on 29 swings against Triple-A Lehigh Valley, six of which came against changeups. In total he threw 45 pitches in his longest rehab outing since retaking the mound June 7. That workload suggests he has work left to do before being activated, but he'll soon need to agree to continue his rehab assignment with the team beyond the standard 30 days -- an option for pitchers returning from Tommy John surgery. • Re-entering rotation Wednesday
Jones is listed as the Pirates' starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals at PNC Park.

Advice: Jones will slot back into the rotation for the first time since June 22 after the Pirates opted to skip his turn this past week. The decision to bypass Jones' turn wasn't based on any injury; instead, the Pirates are cognizant of keeping the 23-year-old right-hander's workload in check during his first season in the majors. The Pirates haven't offered up a firm innings limit for Jones in 2024 nor outlined their plans on when/if he might be skipped again, but fantasy managers shouldn't hesitate to keep him active when he's confirmed to start. Though he's had more trouble keeping walks in check in his recent starts compared to earlier in the campaign, Jones will still head into his 16th start of the season Wednesday with stellar ratios (3.66 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 19.4 K-BB%). • Awarded another start
Festa is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Tigers at Target Field.

Advice: Tabbed as a replacement in the big-league rotation this past Thursday for the injured Chris Paddack (forearm), Festa surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and one walk and struck out just two batters but received enough run support to come away with a win against the Diamondbacks. Festa was cruising early in his debut and faced just one batter more than the minimum through three innings, but he began to unravel over his final two frames, when he allowed all seven of his hits. Festa may need a better showing in Minnesota against a weaker Detroit offense to ensure he gets additional turns through the rotation, as Caleb Boushley has been pitching well at Triple-A St. Paul and looms as an alternative as the Twins' No. 5 starter if Festa can't get the job done. • Earns third save
Chapman gave up a run on two hits in the ninth inning but still managed to pick up his third save Sunday against Atlanta.

Advice: Chapman came in with a three-run lead in the ninth and worked in and out of trouble to grab his second save in his last four appearances. The veteran has taken over the Pirates' ninth-inning role since losing closer David Bednar to an oblique injury June 19th. There is still no timetable for Bednar's return, so Chapman is likely looking at a few more save opportunities in the meantime. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:23 pm
