    • Cleared to face hitters
Blackburn (foot) is scheduled to face hitters in live batting practice Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Ross Stripling (elbow) is set to do the same Wednesday, as both hurlers look to be in the same spot in their respective rehab programs. Given that Stripling has been on the injured list since May 25 while Blackburn was deactivated May 13, the latter pitcher could need more time to get fully stretched back out during an eventual minor-league rehab assignment. The Athletics will likely determine whether either or both of Stripling or Blackburn are ready to report to an affiliate based on how they fare during their live sessions Wednesday. • Tagged with six runs
Anderson (7-8) yielded six runs on seven hits and a walk over 4.2 innings Sunday, striking out two and taking a loss against the Tigers.

Advice: Anderson gave up one run through three innings before the Tigers plated three runs in the fourth. He was charged with two more when Carson Kelly drilled a three-run homer off Andrew Wantz in the fifth. It was the most runs allowed by Anderson this season and his ERA jumped from 2.63 to 3.03 through 104 frames. He went 2-3 with a 4.15 ERA in six June outings. Anderson's next start is lined up to be on the road against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:47 am

    • Implodes again Sunday
Miller allowed five runs on three hits and a walk while retiring just two batters in relief during Sunday's 7-6 win over the Angels.

Advice: Miller came on in the bottom of the ninth inning with the Tigers up 7-1 but he nearly blew the comfortable lead. The righty hit a batter and gave up a walk before allowing a three-run bomb to Zach Neto. A few batters later, Miller served up a two-run shot to Jo Adell before getting the hook with two outs. Over his last two outings, the veteran reliever has allowed eight earned runs in just 1.2 innings, which has pushed his ERA up to an unsightly 6.23. Miller started the season strong, but he's run into a rough patch and is hard to trust at this point. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:32 pm

    • Casey Mize optimistic Sunday injury just a cramp
Casey Mize said he believes his left leg injury Sunday was probably just a cramp.

Advice: Mize will undergo tests after grabbing at his left hamstring in the sixth inning today, but the Tigers don’t seem overly worried at this point. If Mize is forced to the injured list, the Tigers could go to Matt Manning at the back of the rotation. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:37 pm

    • Set to undergo additional imaging
Mize (leg) will undergo further tests on his left leg, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: After exiting Sunday's win over the Angels in the bottom of the sixth inning with a left leg injury, Mize will see what the extent of the damage is. In regard to if it was a cramp or not, the right hander said "that's what it felt like" and that he and the team will "see how the next couple of days play out." The severity of his injury will be determined once Mize receives the results of the imaging. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:29 pm

    • Tyler Anderson hit hard Sunday in loss to Tigers
Tyler Anderson was lit up for six runs over 4 2/3 innings on Sunday in a loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Anderson was shelled for seven hits, including a two-run homer by Tigers rookie Justyn-Henry Malloy. He finished with just two strikeouts and only issued one walk. The 34-year-old southpaw has experienced some significant pullback in the run-prevention department over the last few weeks as his ERA has ballooned from 2.47 back on May 29 to a more league-average 3.03 mark by the end of June. He’ll square off against the Cubs on Saturday at Wrigley Field his next time out. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:04 pm

    • Exits with apparent leg injury
Mize left Sunday's outing against the Angels in the bottom of the sixth inning with an apparent leg injury, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: Mize was in the midst of one of his best starts of the season, striking out two while allowing five baserunners over 5.1 scoreless innings before "cramping up" and grabbing at the back of his left leg, according to McCosky. More information on Mize's status will likely come later Sunday or Monday, but if his departure ultimately does end up being the result of cramping, there's won't be much concern for his availability moving forward. • Casey Mize leaves game in sixth with leg problem
Casey Mize left Sunday’s game in the sixth inning with an apparent left leg injury.

Advice: Mize grabbed at his hamstring a little bit after trying to chase down a foul popup. He is in line for his second win after leaving with a 7-0 lead and one out in the sixth against the Angels. Alex Faedo replaced him. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:53 pm

    • Officially shut down for season
Triple-A Toledo placed Lange (lat) on its full-season injured list Friday.

Advice: The transaction confirms that the surgery Lange underwent this past week to address a right lat avulsion was indeed season-ending. Though the right-handed reliever is currently on the minor-league IL, the Tigers could recall him and place him on the major-league 60-day IL if the team needs to open up a spot on the 40-man roster at any point. Per Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press, Lange is optimistic that he'll be back to full health for the start of spring training in 2025. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:41 pm
