However, Abbott would allow the first three batters to reach in the frame, punctuated by a Nolan Gorman homer, en route to an eventual 7-1 loss. The 24-year-old left-hander had held opponents to two earned runs or fewer in nine of his 10 starts prior to Tuesday. Abbott's ERA rose to 3.29 with a 1.13 WHIP and 46:17 K:BB over 63 innings this year. He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, currently scheduled for early next week in Colorado.       Rodriguez (5-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Red Sox, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out 10.

      Advice: Rodriguez got off to a rocky start Tuesday, allowing a pair of runs in each of the first two innings. The 24-year-old Rodriguez would settle in and hold Boston off the board over his final four frames while recording a career-high 10 strikeouts. However, the Orioles couldn't overcome the early deficit in the eventual 8-3 defeat. It's the first time since April 23 that Rodriguez has allowed more than two earned runs in a start -- he'd gone 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA in his previous three outings. Overall, he sports a 3.53 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP and 61:21 K:BB across 51 innings this season. Rodriguez's next start is currently scheduled for early next week in Toronto.       Grayson Rodriguez allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday.

      Advice: The Red Sox jumped on Rodriguez early, scoring four runs on five hits in the first two innings, but the 24-year-old responded with four shutout innings to end his day. He also struck out 10 batters and walked just one on the day while posting a 38 percent whiff rate and 40 percent CSW. It mostly came down to location with Rodriguez on Tuesday. The pitches the Red Sox hit hard were either pitches that Rodriguez missed his spots on or pitches early in the count that he was simply trying to throw over the plate.       Andrew Abbott allowed six runs on seven hits in six innings in a loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday.

      Advice: It was only a matter of time before there was a rough start for the left-hander who came into the day with a 2.68 ERA but a 4.38 SIERA and just an 8.3 percent swinging strike rate. His sweeper performed well on Tuesday, but the rest of his arsenal lagged behind a bit and while he didn’t get hit overly hard, he had just an 18 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW on the day.       Dunning will start Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

      Advice: It had been Dunning's turn Tuesday, but he will be pushed back a day with Nathan Eovaldi (groin) returning from the injured list.     • Joe Ryan strikes out nine in win over Royals
      Joe Ryan recorded nine strikeouts and allowed one run over seven innings on Monday in a win over the Royals.

      Advice: Ryan authored yet another stellar performance on Monday afternoon at Target Field, carrying a shutout into the sixth inning before Kansas City finally broke through courtesy of a two-out RBI single from Vinnie Pasquantino. It was his highest single-start strikeout total since a 12-punchout performance back on April 13 against the Tigers as he induced 15 swinging strikes, including 11 on his fastball, and finished with a robust 33 percent CSW. He’s rapidly cementing his status as an upper-echelon fantasy contributor, having allowed three earned runs or fewer in 10 of his 11 starts at the outset of the season.     • Hurt by home runs
      Assad (4-1) took the loss Sunday against the Cardinals, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight over five innings.

      Advice: Assad's final run line could've looked a lot better had it not been for two mistakes thrown to Paul Goldschmidt. He served up nearly identical two-run homers to Goldschmidt in the third and fifth innings to give the Cardinals a lead they would never relinquish. Assad has now allowed multiple home runs in back-to-back starts while also walking eight batters over that span. The one positive to take away from Sunday's outing is he was able to tie his career-high with eight strikeouts and has 19 strikeouts over his last 15.2 innings.
