    • Strong until late homer
Gilbert (3-2) allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out seven over 6.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Royals.

Advice: Gilbert gave up just four baserunners over the first six innings. He went back out for the seventh, but two walks and a Nelson Velazquez home run ended his outing in unfortunate fashion. It's a significant improvement on the eight-run fiasco he had in Minnesota in his last start, but it's still a second straight loss for 27-year-old. He's pitched to a 3.07 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 61:18 K:BB over 58.2 innings over nine starts this season. Gilbert is projected for a tough road start versus the Yankees his next time out. • Cal Quantrill pitches Rockies past Padres
Cal Quantrill held the Padres to one run over six innings in picking up a victory Tuesday.

Advice: Amazingly and incredibly, Quantrill’s ERA is down to 3.66. He’s allowed a total of two runs in his last three starts, even striking out 19 batters in the process. We still certainly wouldn’t suggest grabbing him in fantasy leagues, but this has been a whole lot better than his Colorado experience figured to go. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

    • Dylan Cease fans eight in loss to Rockies
Dylan Cease surrendered three runs in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Rockies.

Advice: The third run came after he was pulled in the sixth. Cease struck out eight and gave up just four hard-hit balls, although one was a homer. It’s just the second time this season that he’s failed to complete six innings. Ideally, he would have done better than this with the matchup against a terrible offense at Petco Park, but there’s very little to be disappointed about here so far. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

    • Earns win over Mariners
Wacha (3-4) allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Mariners.

Advice: Wacha limited the damage to a Luke Raley solo home run in the fourth inning. This was Wacha's second quality start in a row and his fourth in nine outings this year. He's also walked multiple batters in five of his starts, but he's given up a reasonable five homers. The right-hander has a 4.71 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 44:17 K:BB through 49.2 innings. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Tigers. Rotowire.com 19 minutes ago

    • Exits with forearm injury
Winn was removed from his start during the fifth inning of Tuesday's game against the Dodgers due to right forearm tightness, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Winn will receive an MRI on Wednesday, at which point more will be known regarding the severity of his injury, as well as a potential return timeline. The 26-year-old righty allowed five earned runs through four-plus innings before getting pulled and is tentatively lined up to make his next start Sunday against the Rockies. • Keaton Winn exits due to forearm tightnesss
The Giants said Keaton Winn suffered from forearm tightness while giving up five runs in four innings Tuesday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: That’s a bummer. Winn has a 6.17 ERA after this, but he’s generally looked better than that suggests. The Giants just sent down Mason Black with Blake Snell set to return to the rotation, but they might need to go back to him now. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago

    • Michael Wacha goes six in defeating Mariners
Michael Wacha pitched six innings of one-run ball in a victory over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Advice: Wacha allowed three hits, walked two and struck out seven in improving to 3-4 with a 4.71 ERA. He’s far from one of our favorite picks, but he has a two-start week against the Tigers and Rays coming up, making him somewhat appealing. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

    • Logan Gilbert takes loss in quality start
Logan Gilbert lost to the Royals after allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday.

Advice: All of the runs scored on Nelson Velázquez’s homer with two outs in the seventh, after which Gilbert was immediately removed. Obviously, it was an unfortunate conclusion, but it was still a nice rebound outing after he gave up eight runs last time out versus the Twins. Gilbert struck out seven and got 18 missed swings, tied for the second-highest total from any starter tonight (Joe Ross, at 21, was tops). Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

    • Earns first save
Puk earned the save Tuesday against the Tigers, delivering a scoreless 10th inning in a 1-0 victory.

Advice: After the Marlins finally opened the scoring in the top of the 10th inning, Puk induced three straight flyouts in the bottom half to strand the free runner at second and earn his first save in his second appearance out of the bullpen this season. Puk spent three weeks on the IL with shoulder fatigue after struggling mightily to a 9.22 ERA in four chances as a starter. The 29-year-old left-hander certainly had more success out of the bullpen last season, when he pitched to a 3.97 ERA with 15 saves in 56.2 innings. Puk was immediately inserted back into a high-leverage role, though he'll likely work primarily as a setup option ahead of Tanner Scott. Rotowire.com Today, 9:01 pm
