    • Four hits in twin bill
Gonzales went 4-for-9 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader split with the Tigers.

Advice: The Pirates were blanked in the opener and managed only three hits in total off Tarik Skubal and the Detroit bullpen, but Gonzales had one of them. The 25-year-old second baseman really came to life in the second contest, as he launched a solo shot off Keider Montero in the fourth inning and was a key part of a 10-2 rout by Pittsburgh. Gonzales has hit safely in 13 of the last 15 games as he solidifies his spot in the Bucs' lineup, batting .328 (19-for-58) over that stretch with three homers, a steal, nine runs and 14 RBI. • Sitting versus lefty
Cruz is absent from the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Tigers.

Advice: Detroit is sending lefty ace Tarik Skubal to the hill in the first game of the doubleheader, so the left-handed-hitting Cruz will begin the contest on the bench. Cruz should be back in the lineup for second game, when the Tigers will start righty Keider Montero. Alika Williams is garnering the start at shortstop in the first tilt. • Knocks three hits
Freeman went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI in Monday's loss to the Rockies.

Advice: Freeman led the game off with a double and scored the first run. He later knocked an RBI single in the second inning and added another double in the ninth. It was his first multi-hit game since going 4-for-4 on May 18. Freeman boosted his slash line to .228/.324/.370 with 15 extra-base hits and 31 runs scored through 189 plate appearances. • Tyler Freeman goes 3-for-5, doubles twice
Tyler Freeman went 3-for-5 and doubled twice as the Guardians’ leadoff man Monday against the Rockies.

Advice: Freeman won’t be spending much time in the leadoff spot after Steven Kwan comes off the IL, but he looks like a lineup fixture right now. His .228/.324/.370 line makes him a league-average hitter, which is kind of sad but also definite progress from the 25-year-old. Rotoworld Monday, 5:15 pm

    • Adds steal Sunday
Freeman went 1-for-3 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch, one RBI and one stolen base in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Freeman is still hitting just .217 on the year, but he's made big strides by batting .302 (13-for-43) over his last 12 contests. He's hit leadoff during that entire span, though his time atop the order will likely end when Steven Kwan (hamstring) returns. Freeman has added a .667 OPS, seven steals, four home runs, 20 RBI and 29 runs scored across 184 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:17 am

    • Oneil Cruz gets breather against Atlanta on Sunday
Oneil Cruz is not in the starting lineup Sunday against Atlanta.

Advice: Cruz will get a break from the lineup for the first time in seven games. The talented shortstop will receive his breather with Alika Williams getting the start at shortstop against Chris Sale and Atlanta. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:11 am
    • Receiving breather Sunday
Cruz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus Atlanta, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: Lefty Chris Sale is taking the mound Sunday for Atlanta, and Cruz will head to the bench after starting the previous six games. The shortstop has been scuffling at the plate recently with a .488 OPS and 43.6 percent strikeout rate in his past nine contests. Alika Williams is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Sunday. • Drives in four
Gonzales went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, four RBI and a run scored Friday against Atlanta.

Advice: Gonzales has swung the bat well since being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis, and he is currently in the midst of a five-game hitting streak. In that span, he's gone 8-for-20 with seven RBI and three runs scored. He's been locked into the fifth spot in the order and should be the Pirates' everyday second baseman for the foreseeable future. • Nick Gonzales with four RBI in win
Nick Gonzales went 2-for-3 with a double, walk, four RBI, and run scored in a win against the Braves on Friday.

Advice: Gonzales has been an RBI machine with 13 in 13 starts since being called up on May 10th along with five extra-base hits. His batted ball metrics match the power output thus far despite his lack of plate discipline. The Pirates offense has looked much better with him in the lineup and he should remain a fixture for them at second base while he hits like this. Rotoworld Friday, 6:41 pm
