    • CJ Abrams collects two hits, steals base vs. Blue Jays
CJ Abrams went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: Abrams knocked a base hit in the third and stole second to get into scoring position, but was stranded on the bases. Down by four runs with the bases loaded, he sent a fly ball to deep center field that fell just short of a grand slam. He settled for a sacrifice fly to bring home a run. Abrams added a base hit in the ninth, ending his day slashing .281/.348/.570 with seven homers, 23 runs scored, 19 RBI, and eight steals across 136 plate appearances. • Productive in big win
Abrams went 1-for-3 with two walks, a two-run home run, a second run scored and a stolen base in Monday's 7-2 win over the Marlins.

Advice: The 23-year-old shortstop was once again the engine of the Nationals' offense from the leadoff spot, as Abrams took Trevor Rogers deep in the third inning then teamed up with Jacob Young for a double steal in the fifth. Abrams has reached base safely in 15 straight games, and on the season he's slashing .297/.377/.634 with seven homers, six stolen bases, 17 RBI and 21 runs in 25 contests. • CJ Abrams blasts two-run homer in win versus MIA
CJ Abrams went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and two walks in a 7-2 win against the Marlins on Monday.

Advice: The 23-year-old continues to have a solid season slashing .300/.381/.640 with seven home runs and 16 RBI. His two-run home run came in the third inning as Trevor Rogers left a fastball right down the center of the plate and Abrams did not miss. There was a lot of discussion if Abrams’ 2023 season was a bit of beginner’s luck, but the Nats’ shortstop is showing that last season was not a one-off. Rotoworld Monday, 6:06 pm

    • J.P. Crawford (oblique) taking grounders Monday
J.P. Crawford (oblique) is taking grounders before Monday’s game against Atlanta.

Advice: Crawford is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with his oblique injury, but it’s a positive development that the 29-year-old is taking part in infield practice before Monday’s game. It’s very likely that Crawford will need a rehab assignment before returning to the Seattle lineup late in May. Rotoworld Monday, 3:25 pm

    • Already feeling better
Crawford (oblique) was able to field some grounders and do light jogging in the outfield before Sunday's series finale against the Diamondbacks, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The activity is significant, considering Crawford was just diagnosed with a Grade 1 oblique strain Wednesday. Crawford is still expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks, but he noted he was feeling much better Sunday than a few days prior, when he'd found it painful to even cough or make general movements. • Likely won't return when eligible
General manager Justin Hollander said Friday that Crawford (oblique) likely won't be activated from the injured list when he's eligible May 5, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Crawford was placed on the injured list Thursday with a Grade 1 oblique strain -- the least severe type of strain -- though it appears the 29-year-old shortstop is still facing an extended absence. Hollander didn't provide an exact timeline for Crawford's return, but a 2-to-3 week absence seems to be the best possible scenario. Rotowire.com Apr 26, 6:12 pm

    • J.P. Crawford (oblique) to miss at least 2-3 weeks
Mariners general manager Justin Hollander told reporters on Friday that he expects J.P. Crawford (oblique) to miss at least 2-3 weeks in a best-case scenario.

Advice: Crawford landed on the injured list on Thursday with a right oblique strain. It’s not surprising news, so oblique strains can tend to linger if they aren’t allowed to fully heal, so the Mariners’ will do the prudent thing here and proceed cautiously. Dylan Moore looks like he’ll continue to function as the team’s regular shortstop while Crawford is shelved. Rotoworld Apr 26, 6:03 pm

    • Nabs fifth steal
Abrams went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: The 23-year-old shortstop saw a nine-game hitting streak end on Wednesday, but he wasted no time getting going again. Over his last 14 contests since returning from a minor finger injury, Abrams is slashing .293/.349/.638 with four of his six homers and two of his five steals on the season.
