    • Taking seat Thursday
Wong is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Phillies.

Advice: The Red Sox will go with Reese McGuire behind the dish in the rubber game of the series. Wong had started each of the previous six contests, with five of those coming at catcher. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:49 am

    • Could start rehab games Tuesday
Contreras (forearm) is hoping to begin a rehab assignment around June 18, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Contreras is just five weeks into a projected 10-week timetable following surgery to repair a fractured left forearm, but Goold writes that the catcher is "eager to push the timetable for his return." He took batting practice in the cage Thursday and has been catching bullpen sessions without issue. If Contreras is indeed able to start a rehab assignment by Tuesday, he could be just a week or so away from activation. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:26 am

    • Taking full BP in cage
Contreras (forearm) will take full batting practice in the indoor batting cage Thursday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Contreras is barely more than a month removed from surgery to repair a fractured left forearm. He was given a 10-week timetable to return following the operation but would appear to be ahead of schedule, given that he's already taking batting practice. Before being activated from the injured list, Contreras will surely need to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment, but it's uncertain when he might be cleared to join one of the Cardinals' affiliates for game action. • Jazz Chisholm Jr. has two hits in loss to Mets
Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-4 and drove in a run on Wednesday night as the Marlins fell to the Mets at Citi Field.

Advice: The dynamic 26-year-old smacked a run-scoring single off of David Peterson in the fifth inning that pulled the Marlins to within a run at 5-4. That would wind up being the extent of their scoring in the contest. With his two-hit effort, Chisholm is now hitting .250/.318/.425 to go along with nine homers, 32 RBI and 12 stolen bases. • Trea Turner (hamstring) trending towards next week
Trea Turner (hamstring) is trending toward a return to the Phillies’ lineup early next week.

Advice: The 30-year-old superstar shortstop ran the bases in Boston on Wednesday and will continue to do more running drills over the next few days. Phillies’ skipper Rob Thomson noted that it’s possible Turner could return before the weekend is through, but they aren’t going to rush him. It sounds like Edmundo Sosa’s viability from a fantasy perspective is coming to an abrupt end very soon. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:39 pm

    • Back 'sooner rather than later'
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that he expects Abreu (ankle) to return from the 10-day injured list "sooner rather than later," Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Cora said that Abreu still feels some minor discomfort with his right ankle when running in a straight line, but the outfielder is doing much better. He will need a rehab assignment, so Abreu won't be ready for activation when first eligible Thursday. However, the Red Sox likely won't have to wait too much longer to get Abreu back. • On bench again Wednesday
Arozarena (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Arozarena will remain on the bench for the second day in a row while he manages a tight right hamstring. Given that the Rays felt comfortable enough using Arozarena as a pinch hitter in Tuesday's 5-2 win, he's seemingly on track to avoid a stint on the injured list. Arozarena's absence from the lineup Wednesday will enable the Rays to give Yandy Diaz a day out of the field and deploy him at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:00 pm
    • Randy Arozarena remains out of lineup Wednesday
Randy Arozarena (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Cubs.

Advice: Arozarena is battling through a hamstring issue but was able to pinch hit on Tuesday. The Rays are calling him day-to-day, so it’s likely that he’s close but not ready to be out in the field for an entire game or sprinting around the bases. The Rays will start Richie Palacios in left field. Jose Caballero is also back in the lineup at third base with Isaac Paredes moving to first and Yandy Diaz at DH. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:01 pm
    • Not in Wednesday's lineup
Jeffers is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rockies.

Advice: Jeffers started at catcher in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies, so he will get a breather for Wednesday's afternoon tilt. Christian Vazquez will be behind the plate for the rubber game of the series. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:50 am
