He took batting practice in the cage Thursday and has been catching bullpen sessions without issue.       Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-4 and drove in a run on Wednesday night as the Marlins fell to the Mets at Citi Field.

      Advice: The dynamic 26-year-old smacked a run-scoring single off of David Peterson in the fifth inning that pulled the Marlins to within a run at 5-4. Phillies’ skipper Rob Thomson noted that it’s possible Turner could return before the weekend is through, but they aren’t going to rush him.       Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that he expects Abreu (ankle) to return from the 10-day injured list "sooner rather than later," Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

      Advice: Cora said that Abreu still feels some minor discomfort with his right ankle when running in a straight line, but the outfielder is doing much better. He will need a rehab assignment, so Abreu won't be ready for activation when first eligible Thursday. However, the Red Sox likely won't have to wait too much longer to get Abreu back.
