    • Provides lone run in loss
Contreras went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Contreras also struck out three times Wednesday, the third consecutive game he's done that. He'll likely be happy to put the Tigers in the rear-view mirror after going 1-for-13 with nine strikeouts during the three-game series in Detroit. That poor stretch has dropped Contreras to a .258/.373/.505 slash line on the year, and he's added five homers, 10 RBI, 14 runs scored, eight doubles and a stolen base through 110 plate appearances. Contreras has caught four of the Cardinals' last six games, so it appears he's managing his lingering soreness from a left hand injury fairly well. Rotowire.com Today, 9:55 am
    • Big night in win
Wong went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-2 win over San Francisco.

Advice: Wong has been a consistent producer at the dish, never going more than one game without a hit. The catcher, who recorded his eighth multi-hit game Wednesday, is slashing .366/.367/.620 through 75 plate appearances. Those numbers are sure to correct -- a .412 BABIP indicates that -- but Wong has improved his contact rate on pitches in the zone, jumping up to 84.2 percent compared to 74.3 percent in 2023. • Tagged with loss in quality start
Bassitt (2-5) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings as the Blue Jays fell 6-1 to the Royals. He struck out four.

Advice: The veteran righty took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but a leadoff double by Kyle Isbel kicked off a three-run frame for Kansas City, and with Seth Lugo also pitching extremely well, Bassitt had no margin for error. He tossed 62 of 92 pitches for strikes in his third quality start of the season, but Bassitt will carry a shaky 5.45 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB through 36.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Philadelphia. • Clubs solo homer
Steer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base during Wednesday's 6-2 loss to San Diego.

Advice: Steer advanced to a perfect 8-for-8 on steal attempts this season and belted his fourth home run of the campaign -- and his first since April 6 -- off of Joe Musgrove in the first inning. He's cooled off since going on a tear to open the season and is batting 5-for-40 (.125) with four RBi and three runs scored during his last 11 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:37 pm

    • Connor Wong collects three hits as Red Sox win
Connor Wong went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI on Wednesday, propelling the Red Sox to a 6-2 victory over the visiting Giants.

Advice: Wong started things in the fourth inning with a leadoff double off of Daulton Jefferies, then raced around to score on an RBI double by Enmanuel Valdez. He also drove in a run of his own with a two-out RBI double off of Mitch White in the seventh inning. The 27-year-old backstop has been sizzling at the dish as of late, hitting .366/.387/.620 with five homers and 14 RBI in 21 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:12 pm

    • Spencer Steer snaps homerless streak Wednesday
Spencer Steer clobbered a solo homer on Wednesday in the Reds’ loss to the Padres.

Advice: Steer kicked off the scoring with a solo shot to left-center field -- his fourth round-tripper of the season -- off Padres starter Joe Musgrove in the opening frame. It was the first time he’s gone deep since April 6, snapping a bizarre 22-game homerless drought. The versatile 26-year-old on-base machine is batting .252/.364/.450 with 18 runs scored, four homers, 22 RBI and eight stolen bases through 31 contests. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:47 pm

    • Wins third straight
Ober (3-1) earned the win Wednesday over the White Sox, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out three over six innings.

Advice: After allowing two runs in the opening frame, Ober settled in to hold Chicago to just two more runs over his final five innings en route to a third consecutive winning decision. The four runs were the most Ober's allowed since he was tagged for eight runs in his first start of the year against Kansas City -- he'd held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his subsequent four outings. Overall, the 28-year-old right-hander sports a 4.55 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP and 28:7 K:BB through 31.2 innings this season. Ober's currently slated for a home matchup with the Mariners in his next turn. • Chris Bassitt gives up three-run homer in ldefeat
Chris Bassitt surrendered three runs in six innings Wednesday in a loss to the Royals.

Advice: Bassitt actually had a no-hitter going until the sixth, when the Royals mustered two singles and two doubles to take a 3-0 lead. The results will likely be there eventually, but the loss today leaves him 2-5 with a 5.45 ERA. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:49 pm
    • Bailey Ober gives up four runs, wins anyway
Bailey Ober won despite allowing four runs in six innings Wednesday against the White Sox.

Advice: It’s Ober’s worst start since he gave up eight runs on March 31, but still not too shabby. He’s sporting a 3-1 record, a 4.55 ERA and an excellent 1.04 WHIP. Next up is a home start versus the Mariners. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:27 pm
