• Héctor Neris holds on for fifth save Wednesday
Héctor Neris worked a scoreless ninth inning for the save against the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Neris was summoned in the ninth inning to close out the game with a one-run lead. He recorded one out, then hit a batter and gave up a double to put the tying run on third and the go-ahead run in scoring position. Jeff McNeil hit a fly out and Pete Alonso was tagged out at home to end the game. Neris is up to five saves despite some shaky outings. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

José Buttó allowed one run with six strikeouts across six innings in a loss against the Cubs on Wednesday.

It was the third time in five starts Buttó has gone six innings with no more than one run allowed. Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder came on to bat for Christian Bethancourt with the bases loaded and two outs in the eighth inning. He responded by lining a 1-1 offering from Nick Mears into right field for a two-run single to provide the Marlins with a pair of valuable insurance runs. • Anthony Maldonado secures first career save
Anthony Maldonado secured the first save of his big league career on Wednesday, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a three-run lead against the Rockies.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler wasn’t fazed at all by the bright lights of the ninth inning on Wednesday, retiring Charlie Blackmon, Brendan Rodgers and Elehuris Montero in succession to end the night. He’s not going to suddenly usurp the closer’s role away from Tanner Scott, but he could be working his way into the high-leverage mix for manager Skip Schumaker. Rotoworld Today, 6:24 pm
  • Roddery Muñoz fans seven in victory over Rockies
Roddery Muñoz picked up his first career victory in impressive fashion on Wednesday night, piling up seven strikeouts over six innings of one-run baseball against the Rockies.

Advice: The 24-year-old rookie right-hander allowed just three hits and a pair of walks on the night. The lone tally against him came on an RBI ground out off the bat of Elias Diaz in the sixth inning. Aside from that, he was in complete command. Muñoz generated 12 swings and misses on 82 pitches on the night — half of those on his cutter — while posting a strong CSW of 30 percent. The Marlins have to give him another opportunity to start next week, though he’ll draw a difficult matchup having to take on the Dodgers in Los Angeles. For fantasy managers who are into streaming pitchers weekly, a two-step that goes at the Dodgers and vs. the Phillies is about as volatile as it gets. Rotoworld Today, 6:21 pm

  • Ryan McMahon reaches three times in loss Wednesday
Ryan McMahon doubled and drew a pair of walks on Wednesday night as the Rockies fell to the Marlins in Miami.

Advice: McMahon worked a two-out walk off of Roddery Munoz in the opening inning and went to third on a single by Elias Diaz, but the Rockies couldn’t cash him in. He then smacked a one-out double in the sixth inning that pushed Brenton Doyle to third base and helped contribute to the Rockies’ lone run on the day. He’s off to a blistering start at the dish this season, slashing .324/.408/.505 with four homers and 18 RBI through his first 30 games. Rotoworld Today, 6:17 pm

  • Called up, will be primary pitcher
The Giants recalled Jefferies from Triple-A Sacramento prior to Wednesday's game against the Red Sox in Boston.

Advice: Left-hander Erik Miller is slated to open the game for the Giants, but he's unlikely to work more than an inning or two before turning the game over to the bullpen. According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Jefferies is expected to cover the bulk of the innings out of the bullpen as he makes his first appearance for the Giants since giving up five earned runs over two innings in a spot start back on March 31 in San Diego. The Giants optioned Landen Roupp to Triple-A to clear room on the 26-man active roster for Jefferies. Rotowire.com Today, 1:18 pm
