    • Four hits in win
Mountcastle went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the White Sox.

Advice: Mountcastle recorded hits in each of his first four at-bats, marking only the second time this month in which he's scored two runs in a contest. The first baseman saw his batting average jump 16 points with his fourth multi-hit performance this month, though he hasn't driven in a run since May 8. Mountcastle is also yet to draw a walk in May while striking out 17 times. Rotowire.com Today, 7:31 am

    • Used as pinch runner
Fraley (hand) entered Thursday's 6-4 extra-inning loss to the Padres as a pinch runner in the 10th inning.

Advice: The outfielder ran for Jeimer Candelario, who had walked, and was presumably only going to be allowed to run the bases had the game continued. The Reds didn't wind up scoring in the extra frame, but the usage suggests Fraley could return to the lineup at some point during a weekend series against the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Today, 4:13 am

    • Mountcastle has four-hit game Thursday
Ryan Mountcastle went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored against the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Mountcastle scored on Jorge Mateo’s three-run home run in the fourth inning and on an Adley Rutschman home run in the sixth inning. The four hits marked a nice bounce back game for Mountcastle, who had been slumping. The Orioles have a deep group of hitters to choose from, but he should stay in the lineup as long as he continues to hit.

    • Goes seven innings in win
Wheeler (6-3) earned the win Thursday over the Rangers, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out five.

Advice: After Adolis Garcia led off the second inning with a home run, Wheeler held the Rangers off the board until Ezequiel Duran's two-out RBI single in the seventh. It's the sixth win in Wheeler's last seven starts, and he's pitched at least seven innings in back-to-back outings and three of his last four. His ERA sits at 2.53 on the season with a 0.98 WHIP and 76:21 K:BB in 67.2 innings. Wheeler is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Giants in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:57 pm
    • Zack Wheeler fires seven strong in win over Rangers
Zack Wheeler held the Rangers to two runs over seven innings while picking up a win Thursday.

Advice: Wheeler scattered five hits with two walks, and he struck out five. The blemishes on the scoreboard came on an Adolis Garcia homer in the second and an infield single by Ezekiel Duran in the seventh. Outside of that, it was another strong outing for the 33-year-old that sees him lower his ERA to 2.53 as he worked at least seven innings for the third time in four starts. He’s scheduled to get the Giants on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:16 pm
    • Fraley remains out of Reds lineup on Thursday
Jake Fraley (hand) is out of the lineup on Thursday with Nick Martini starting in right field again.

Advice: Fraley was hit on the hand on Tuesday but the x-rays came back negative. He’s still dealing with some soreness, so the Reds will give him another day off with Nick Martini in the lineup hitting sixth. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 am

    • Jake Cronenworth playing 2B for Padres on Thursday
Jake Cronenworth is starting at second base for the first time in the 2024 season.

Advice: This felt inevitable after the Padres traded for Luis Arraez, who is a well below-average defensive second baseman. Arraez will now slide to first base with Cronenworth moving to second. Cronenworth has been an above-average defensive second baseman over the last four seasons, so this move doesn’t figure to hurt the Padres at all and could be a boost for their pitchers. • Plans to test out hand with swings
Fraley plans to test out his injured right hand with some swings Thursday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: X-rays on Fraley's hand came back clean after he exited Tuesday's contest versus the Padres following a hit by pitch. However, he still has some swelling and will be absent from the lineup Thursday for a second straight day. The outfielder should be considered day-to-day. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:39 am

    • Out of lineup with hand injury
Fraley (hand) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Fraley will miss out on a second consecutive start while he manages a bruised and swollen right hand. The Reds seem to be viewing Fraley as day-to-day, so he could be available off the bench in the series finale. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:31 am
