      Adell went 0-for-2 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in Saturday's loss to the Guardians.

      Advice: Adell has been quite aggressive on the basepaths this season, as he's already set a career high with six thefts, though he has also been caught five times, tied for most in the majors. With Mike Trout (knee) set to miss extended time, Adell should get the opportunity to start in the outfield on a near-everyday basis. The former top prospect is looking to finally break through at the major-league level, and he's fared pretty well so far this season with a .265/.320/.515 slash line, four homers, 11 RBI and 12 runs through 75 plate appearances.       Detmers (3-3) took the loss against Cleveland on Saturday, allowing seven runs on five hits and four walks while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: Detmers entered the sixth inning with a quality start still in sight, as he had allowed three runs to that point. However, the left-hander got himself into trouble by walking three batters in the frame, and Bo Naylor made the hurler pay with a grand slam to blow the game open. The seven runs, three homers and four free passes were all season-worst marks for Detmers, who was tagged with his third consecutive loss. The 24-year-old looked to be on his way to a breakout campaign by posting a 1.19 ERA and 30:7 K:BB over 22.2 innings across his first four starts, but he's stumbled since, allowing 16 earned runs and recording a 14:7 K:BB over 17.2 frames in his past three outings.       Jones did not factor into the decision in Saturday's win against the Rockies. He allowed one hit and no walks while striking out 10 over seven scoreless innings.

      Advice: The 22-year-old right-hander bounced back from a rather modest showing his last time out, matching his career high with 10 strikeouts. Jones got 17 swings and misses on 96 pitches and touched 100 mph with his heater a couple times. While he has a losing record at 2-3, Jones is off to a historically great start to his career. He became the first pitcher in Pirates history with an outing consisting of seven shutout innings, one hit or fewer allowed, 10 strikeouts and zero walks Saturday, and per MLB's Sarah Langs, Jones is the first pitcher since at least 1901 with 50-plus strikeouts and five or fewer walks in his first seven career starts.       Reid Detmers was shelled for seven runs over 5 2/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Guardians.

      Advice: Detmers was burned by the long ball in this one as three of the five hits he surrendered wound up leaving the ball park. Serving up solo shots to Austin Hedges and Ramón Laureano, respectively was relatively harmless, but a sixth-inning grand slam from Bo Naylor was enough to saddled him with a loss. He struck out seven and also issued four walks.       Holmes gave up a hit and struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings Saturday to record his 11th save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Tigers.

      Advice: The right-hander is tied with the Cardinals' Ryan Helsley for the league lead in saves. Holmes kept his ERA a pristine 0.00 with Saturday's performance, although he did give up three unearned runs in his one blown save, and through 15 innings he's delivered a 0.92 WHIP and 18:1 K:BB.       Gausman (2-3) picked up the victory Saturday, tossing 5.1 shutout innings on three hits and two walks against the Nationals. He struck out eight.

      Advice: The Nats made Gausman throw a season-high 112 pitches to get through his 5.1 frames, but the right-hander was able to keep them off the scoreboard. Gausman's eight strikeouts were his highest total this season, and he boasted a 48 percent whiff rate on his splitter. The righty's velocity remains down, but he's allowed just two earned runs over his last four starts and finally piled up some strikeouts in this one.
