      Blake Snell was outstanding in Friday’s minor league rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento, piling up 10 strikeouts over five innings of no-hit baseball.

      Advice: The plan all along had been for Snell to rejoin the Giants’ rotation next week as long as this start went well, and he was nearly perfect. Look for him to slot back into the team’s rotation against the Pirates in Pittsburgh next week.       Advice: Waldron made the Atlanta lineup look uncomfortable in the batter's box all Friday night with his patented knuckleball. The San Diego right-hander used 98 pitches to reach double-digit strikeouts in a start for the first time in his career. Waldron sports a 5.00 ERA in 45 innings this season, but has been slightly unlucky, as evidenced by his 3.98 FIP. The knuckleballer lines up to face the Reds on the road for his next outing.       Advice: Fried turned in his worst outing Friday since allowing seven runs on 10 hits against Arizona on April 6. The Atlanta lefty generated a measly four whiffs over his 88 pitches as the Padres lineup had his number all night.       Josh Hader didn’t give up a run while picking up a save Friday against the Brewers.

      Advice: Hader gets the save against one of his former employers in Milwaukee. The southpaw has now saved six games in 2024, and he’s nearly halved his 8.38 ERA on April 19 to 4.50.       Freddy Peralta was charted for five runs over five innings while picking up a loss to the Astros on Friday.

      Advice: Both Hunter Brown and Peralta gave up all of their damage via the long-ball in this contest, and in Peralta’s case, he gave up a two-run homer to Jake Meyers and a three-run blast to Jeremy Peña. Outside of those blasts the right-hander was mostly effective, but damage done. It’s the second time in five starts he’s allowed at least five runs, and a 1.90 ERA on April 19 has ballooned to 4.17.       Hunter Brown gave up four runs in five innings but still picked up the win Friday against the Brewers.

      Advice: Brown allows four hits — two of them homers, including a three-run homer by Joey Ortiz — and he walked three while striking out five. It’s another mediocre start from the right-hander, and mediocre seems to be pretty kind at this stage. It’s never a good sign when five innings of four-run baseball sees your ERA drop to 7.71.       Tyler Alexander pitched a career-high 7 ⅓ innings in a 4-3 win over the Blue Jays on Friday. He allowed three runs, three hits, and struck out four.
