Advice: Burnes did not allow an extra-base hit as a walk and two singles in the sixth led to the lone run he allowed. The two strikeouts are the fewest Burnes has recorded in a start during his career and represent the eighth consecutive start in which he's recorded six or fewer K's after opening the season with an 11-strikeout effort. While he's not been as dominant in Baltimore as he was in Milwaukee, Burnes has still been plenty effective, allowing three or fewer runs in every start this season. Gallen (5-2) picked up the win Sunday against Baltimore, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks across six innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Gallen notched a second straight quality start, following up a one-hit gem against the Reds with Sunday's two-run showing against the O's. Three of the four hits against Gallen went for extra bases, as he allowed doubles to Anthony Santander and Jordan Westburg while Adley Rutschman slugged a solo homer in the sixth. Yu Darvish was magnificent in Sunday afternoon’s victory over the Dodgers, piling up seven strikeouts across seven innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: The 37-year-old right-hander allowed just two hits and one walk on the day. He retired the first 14 hitters that he faced in order until he walked Andy Pages with two outs in the fifth inning. He then allowed a single to Enrique Hernandez, but got Miguel Rojas to line out to end the threat. Darvish generated 19 swings and misses on 101 pitches in the ballgame — one or more on eight different offerings — while posting an elite CSW of 36 percent. He has yet to allow a run over 17 innings since returning from the injured list and now boasts a 2.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and a 37/12 K/BB ratio over 40 2/3 innings on the year. Zac Gallen allowed two runs on four hits in six innings in a win over the Orioles.

Advice: Gallen struck out four and walked two on the day while posting a pedestrian 10 percent whiff rate and 19 percent CSW. It should be noted that Gallen’s fastball velocity was also up almost two mph on the year, averaging 94.2 mph. His sinker and slider were both also up over two mph, so the early season concerns about his health may be in the rearview mirror. However, the lack of swings and misses is a bit of a concern; although, the opponent was certainly a tough one. Gallen will take a 2.86 ERA into an easier start against the Tigers next week. Max Scherzer received a cortisone injection in his right thumb on Wednesday.

Advice: Scherzer underwent additional testing earlier this week that revealed his thumb issue to be nerve-related, not structural. It’s an encouraging development that he’s reportedly experiencing significant improvement following the additional treatment. The 39-year-old righty was able to resume playing catch on Friday without any issues. He’ll presumably need a couple rehab outings before making it back to the Rangers’ starting rotation mix.
