Bido was removed from his start Wednesday due to a blister on his right middle finger, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Bido allowed four earned runs before he was removed from the game midway through the third inning. The severity of his injury is unclear, but the A's haven't given any indication that Bido will have to miss his next start -- tentatively scheduled for Tuesday. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

  • Osvaldo Bido leaves start with blister issue
Osvaldo Bido was removed from Wednesday’s start against the Rangers in the third inning due to a blister issue on his pitching hand.

Advice: The right-hander had allowed one run on three hits and a pair of walks over his 2 2/3 innings of work — but also left the bases loaded and will be responsible if those runners score as well. It’s likely that he would be heading back to Triple-A Las Vegas after Wednesday’s start anyways, but what remains unclear is whether or not he’ll require a trip to the injured list. • Beginning assignment Sunday
Snell (thigh) will throw a bullpen session Thursday and begin a rehab assignment at Single-A San Jose on Sunday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Snell began facing hitters Tuesday, and he has now been given the green light to test his injured thigh in a competitive setting. The left-hander may have his assignment moved to a higher-level affiliate after his rehab outing Sunday, though it is possible the Giants opt to return him to their rotation after just one start. • Blake Snell tabbed for rehab start on Sunday
Blake Snell (adductor) is scheduled to make a minor league rehab start at Single-A San Jose on Sunday.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw will first throw a bullpen session on Thursday, then if all goes well he’ll be cleared to take the mound in that rehab start. Snell has been shelved since April 24 due to a left adductor strain. It remains to be seen if he’ll require any additional rehab starts after Sunday’s tune-up, or if he’ll be ready to return to the Giants’ rotation if things go well there. • Starting rehab stint
Astros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Urquidy (forearm) is likely to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land this weekend, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw live batting practice Tuesday and has now been cleared to pitch in minor-league games. Urquidy was shut down with a forearm strain in mid-March and will likely require a handful of rehab starts before making his season debut for the Astros. Rotowire.com Today, 3:41 pm

  • José Urquidy (forearm) ready for rehab assignment
José Urquidy (forearm) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Sugar Land over the weekend.

Advice: Urquidy has been shelved since spring training due to inflammation in his forearm, so he’s going to need at least a couple of rehab starts before he’s an option to join the Astros’ rotation. If he’s able to avoid any setbacks though, a return before the end of May could be realistic. Rotoworld Today, 3:26 pm

  • JP Sears goes 5 2/3 on Wednesday for win
JP Sears gave up four runs over 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a win over the Rangers.

Advice: Sears drew the starting assignment for the opening contest of Wednesday’s doubleheader and managed to limit Texas’ lineup to just seven hits, including a pair of homers, into the middle innings. He got nine runs of support from Oakland’s offense to cruise to a win. He struck out three and only issued one walk. He’ll bring a serviceable 4.20 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 33/13 K/BB ratio across 45 innings (eight starts) into a road matchup on Monday against the division-rival Astros. Rotoworld Today, 3:04 pm

  • Red Sox activate Nick Pivetta from 15-day IL
Red Sox activated RHP Nick Pivetta from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: As anticipated, the 31-year-old hurler will rejoin the Red Sox’ rotation on Wednesday night against the Braves. Prior to landing on the injured list, Pivetta had posted a 1-1 record, 0.82 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and a 13/1 K/BB ratio over 11 innings through his first two starts. Given the fact that he threw just 62 pitches in his last rehab start — and the tough matchup against the Braves — fantasy managers may want to wait and see on this one before re-inserting him into lineups. • Michael Lorenzen hit hard in loss to A’s
Michael Lorenzen was lit up for six runs over six innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Lorenzen took the ball for the opening contest of Wednesday’s twin bill at Oakland Coliseum and turned in an absolute clunker. He was tagged for nine hits, including homers from Shea Langeliers and Brett Harris, before his calamitous outing came to a close. He finished with six strikeouts and only handed out a pair of free passes. He’ll being an inflated 4.66 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 23/14 K/BB ratio across 29 innings (five starts) into a home matchup on Tuesday against the Guardians. Rotoworld Today, 3:04 pm
